As I mentioned to John in a personal message, the bishop of this diocese, Robert McManus, is a complete theological neanderthal nut job. He actually forbade Sen. Ted Kennedy’s widow from becoming the Commencement speaker at Holy Cross College, because he considered her marriage to the Senator to be “scandalous”. And this judgment was in spite of the fact that Cardinal O’Malley in Boston had no problem permitting her to speak instead at Boston College’s Commencement; and in spite of the fact that Sen. Kennedy himself had received a legal anullment of his previous marriage, and was a Lector and a Lay Eucharistic Minister at his Catholic home parish in Hyannis. The present Bishop of Worcester is a complete ultra-right-wing nut job, who is doing no favors whatsoever for the reputation of the Catholic Church. And that’s the hidden story behind the item which John has shared with us.

The catholick hierarchy is a bunch of closeted, disingenuous old queens who have spent years and years practicing doublespeak and deception. How do you think they got to the top of that holy roman crap-pile? Wasn’t through not looking out for themselves. And they will do anything to promote and protect their power and privileges.
Their villainy goes back for centuries.

If they really do believe they have the right to discriminate based on religious freedom, then why lie about it in the first place? Why not just tell them the real reason if they honestly believe they’re protected? Just covering their holy asses I guess.

If the broker did ‘inform’ on them, she just screwed herself out of a probably really nice commission; unless the diocese always uses her and she knows as the RCC does, that money is always more important than integrity and morals.
