Pat Robertson’s Power Of Delusional Thinking

A majority of Americans support marriage equality. As Right Wing Watch points out, the Democratic Party will likely be including marriage equality in its platform this year. Here is Pat Robertson closing his eyes really tightly and wishing for the America he wants, where none of these things are happening, declaring that the Democrats’ support for marriage equality will be their “death knell”:

Oh, Pat. Whatever you need to tell yourself and your dead-end viewers to keep yourselves from wetting the bed at night.

Interesting, isn’t it that his argument ultimately boils down to numbers. 2% gay and 1% lesbian — so only 3% of the population is affected by the majority voting to decide not to give equal rights to gay/lesbian American citizens. He wasn’t really arguing his normal “moral” and “religious” crap, he was arguing numbers. If the numbers were 20%, or 40% would that matter?

I’ve always thought Pat Robertson was crazy and he’s confirming it for sure now during the current debate on gay rights and marriage.

Pat–what happened to Jesus’ command to judge not lest you yourself be judged? Hmmm?

Pat’s basically saying minorities don’t matter. Makes sense; as we all know, Jesus didn’t care about minorities either, right? Pat will probably be the first to tell you Jesus said the strong would inherit the earth.

Someday, I would truly like to hear someone like Pat have a no-holds-barred conversation with some one who understands the Constitutional concept of equality and equal treatment under the law. How does one square the majority deciding what rights a minority might share if the Constitution says all are required to be treated equally? Where in the document does it give the majority of voters the right to decide the equality or not of a minority? WHERE, Pat? These votes that you so soundly support are unconstitutional. That day is coming when you are going to want to cut your head off because WE ARE GOING TO BE YOUR LEGAL EQUALS IN ALL MATTERS.
