Diabetes appreciation day for everyone!
The franchise owner at the Chick-Fil-A where this photo was taken (Southaven, Mississippi) is Jewish and supports marriage equality. So that’s interesting.

With 4 teeth between all of them I wonder how they chew that crappy chicken.
Its pre-masticated. That’s why its so soft and moist (like their heads).
Careful, careful. They may think “masticate” is a bad word…
On a bright note, a Chick-fil-A franchise in New Hampshire is going against the corporate tide and actively supporting the LGBTQ community. (I’ve tried to post the link at LGBTQ Nation four times, but it won’t show up. @#$%!!!)
I’m glad they’re not all homophobes.
Hahaha its in Mississippi. Where homosexuality is a sin, but sex with livestock is a rite of passage.
But will all these people be back tomorrow? Or next week or next month? I’m thinking they’re all here just to (in their minds) make a point. So after today the company will once again have to depend on its customer base, minus eveyone they have disenfranchised. But when business falls off and stores start closing, guess who will get blamed!
Heya Joel, Unfortunately, I believe they WILL be back. Their brains have now made neural links between eating fast food chicken with pride, self-righteousness, patriotism, defending the bible and protecting the family. Dopamine levels are off the chart for overweight, bigoted southerners today.
I say “Good for Chick-fil-A”, even after all the attention, most Americans still don’t know who Exodus and the FRC are.
They will be back, but not enough to make up for the casual eater who is now turned off and will never return.
Does the franchise owner close on Saturdays or Sundays?
Most CFA supporters think this is about evil east-coast liberals trying to silence a Christian company.
They have not gotten the message about CFA’s human rights record against gays and CFA’s alleged discrimination against working mothers.
I have been cutting and pasting the following on various Facebook conversations; I encourage others to edit this as they wish and repost in their own Facebook conversations.
If we call everyone a bigot simply for not getting the message, then we really will lose sympathy and support.
I think what’s saddest of all is how deeply protective the bigots are of their ability to eat fast food, consequences be damned. This was like the easiest political demonstration, ever.
@Michael, no, they’re bigots. They went there knowing that at the very least they were supporting a CEO who doesn’t want gays to marry. They earned that label.
OMG!They look like a bunch of zombies, complete with flat affect. Idiots.
I agree with CT–these people KNOW what they are supporting so yes, I consider them bigots.
To Michael Airhart: I think the mayors of Boston, Chicago, and DC’s attempts to ban Chick-fil-A feed into the “Northern liberal elitists want to keep our traditional real American values down” narrative more than anything else. I believe that is extremely counterproductive, as well as unconstitutional. Ideally, I’d like them to open new stores, which close in 6 months due to lack of patronage. I think those of us who feel that way need to stress that we believe CFA’s executives have the right to say what they want, franchisees have the right to open new stores, and customers have the right to make choices. It’s just that we have those rights, too, whether they like it or not.
Just seeing the sheer number of people packing these restaurants to “Say it loud, I hate queers and I’m proud” was really upsetting to me yesterday. Worse, several of my own relatives, including my mother, bragged about going, knowing that I am married to another woman. It confirmed to my wife and I that we do, in fact, need to skip Christmas with my family this year and not feel a speck of guilt about it.
I shocked my aunt who claimed it was about defending “free speech” and “traditional marriage” by snapping out “Look, don’t p**s on my leg and tell me it’s raining, OK? We know who you’re defending it *from*.” She seemed really upset. To be honest, I was perfectly fine with that. I think we’re going to have to be that direct and confrontational about this, to let them know that we are not fooled, this is not an academic debate, and we have *every right in the world* to take it personally.
So you guys wanna hear a funny joke?
In all this debating with people who refuse to see facts, and ignorantly cling to one or two words you said. I was told by a straight married white guy to “quit wishing I was repressed”. Isn’t that hilarious! He had actually ever heard the word repressed?!
@GreenEyedLilo “Ideally, I’d like them to open new stores, which close in 6 months due to lack of patronage.”
I agree with this. The phrase “losing money faster than a Chick-Fil-A in Dupont Circle” comes to mind.
But that may happen eventually anyway. Their stores may have gotten record sales on August 1, but I think the damage they’ve done to their brand will result in losses the other 364 days of the year.
