Hello, readers! John here. Michael and I spent the last week or so in Wisconsin visiting friends and family, so that’s why you haven’t seen me posting on the site. I’m back today, though, and I’d like to share a bit of our vacation with you:

Yes, we participated in the National Same-Sex Kiss Day. Wisconsin has only one Chick-fil-A restaurant, so we drove down to Racine in order to make this small, symbolic statement of love in the face of the restaurant chain’s hateful anti-gay blood money.

While much work remains to be done (as the ugly “Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day” so vividly illustrated – click here to see how it was “celebrated” in Racine, for example), the tide is unmistakably turning against the enemies of equality, including Chick-fil-A. Their hatred of our marriage will never be stronger than the love Michael and I have for each other. Their contempt for the LGBT community isn’t nearly powerful enough to un-bend the arc of history that’s decisively bending towards the justice we deserve. And they’ll never be able to fight harder against our equality than we’ll be able to fight for it, no matter how much money groups like Chick-fil-A spend subsidizing hate speech, funding groups promoting the imprisonment of gay people, or pushing fraudulent “pray away the gay” therapy.

Because we’re fighting for love, and at the end of the day, love always wins out over hate.
