For three weeks now, the nation has been embroiled in a debate about chicken after anti-gay comments by Dan Cathy, the COO of Chick-fil-A, brought renewed attention to the restaurant chain’s alarming crusade against LGBT civil rights and its donations to a number of anti-gay groups, including Exodus International, the infamous “ex-gay” organization, and the Family Research Council, a certified anti-gay hate group. Unfortunately, in the era of Twitter and sound bite journalism, the story soon shifted from Chick-fil-A’s anti-gay corporate giving back to Cathy’s personal opposition to marriage equality, allowing proponents of marriage discrimination to distort the narrative and cast themselves as the victims, falsely alleging that their free speech rights were under attack for simply espousing “traditional values.”
Values? We beg to differ.
Many people don’t realize that Chick-fil-A’s intolerance extends well beyond the LGBT community: the company has been sued at least 12 times since 1988 on charges of employment discrimination, according to U.S. District Court records. They have allegedly refused to hire applicants who don’t attend church. They reached a legal settlement with a Muslim store manager in Houston who sued for discrimination, claiming that he was fired after refusing to say a Christian prayer. A woman in Georgia is now suing the fast food chain, alleging that a manager told her to quit work to become a stay-at-home mom.
We aim to tell the stories of people like these — people who’ve suffered discrimination from Chick-fil-A. View the first video below:
If Chick-fil-A wants to talk about family values, we’re more than happy to have that discussion — because it’s one we know we’ll win.
If you’ve suffered discrimination or humiliation at the hands of Chick-fil-A, we want to help you tell your story. Until now, those who’ve been hurt by Chick-fil-A’s policies have had to deal with the consequences alone. However, by coming forward, you’ll help people learn the truth about Chick-fil-A’s real “values” and take an important stand for fairness and equality. Please email TWO’s Wayne Besen at wbesen@truthwinsout.org today.
Stay tuned as this exciting campaign develops.

You do realize this only makes your cause look desperate and I guarantee this will not win anyone over. In fact it looks petty and will turn people off. Very few people actually care about ChikFilA and almost everyone is sick of hearing about this ridiculousness. You would be wise to rethink your strategy, you are only making hings worse for yourselves,
You seem pretty desperate to get the heat off your fellow bigots in Chick-Fil-A Frank.
Rainbow your mistake is in thinking there is any heat at all on anyone. What was the result of this?
ChkFilA had records sales
The world ignored the counter protest
Those that believe like Cathy are more united than ever
Those that we’re happy to remain silent and not get involved in the marriage fight at all now have been forced to take a position and the majority are against SSM.
The only heat that seems to be on someone is you and those who keep pushing this.
That is a typical bigoted lie Frank.
Chik-Fil-A’s brand has suffered a massive drop since this all started. A single day worth of child-murdering bigots showing up to stuff their faces is far from enough to reverse that.
The world saw the naked bigotry of the protesters and many of the employees.
Those that believe like you and Cathy are becoming more marginalized than ever.
Every poll shows that an increasing number of people favor equal marriage rights for gay people.
In spite of your attempts to change the narrative, and exponentially increasing amount of heat is being placed on you and your fellow bigots.
Meanwhile 31 states and counting have effectively banned SSM. I would look at reality not flawed and nreliable polls for evaluation.
You have the freedom to self destruct if you want to. I have something else to do now.
I’d say have a good day but your misplaced anger and bitterness would prevent it.
Frank said “You do realize this only makes your cause look desperate and I guarantee this will not win anyone over.”.
You’re not in any position to make such guarantees and in fact your comments show you to be woefully out of touch with reality.
Frank said “Those that we’re happy to remain silent and not get involved in the marriage fight at all now have been forced to take a position and the majority are against SSM.”.
Thanks for illustrating my point. The majority of Americans favour marriage equality and several polls have backed that up. You’re in the minority now, bigot.
See my post to Phoenix. You trust the polls I will continue to look at reality.
Frank said “Meanwhile 31 states and counting have effectively banned SSM. I would look at reality not flawed and nreliable polls for evaluation.”.
Those days are over with, most of that was several years in the past. Polls since May of this year have shown majority support for marriage equality and several polls since have confirmed that reality. You can deny reality but that won’t change it.
Clear violations of the fourteenth amendment are not a good argument for your side Frank, especially when we’re hardly the first minority you’ve done such things to.
You’re free to hate us as much as you want, but we are under no obligation to give you special treatment for it.
How exactly is our anger misplaced? Why shouldn’t we be angry about the thousands of extra dollars we pay in taxes each year? Why shouldn’t we be angry when we’re kept from our partners’ bedsides because you bigots have made sure the law considers us strangers? Why shouldn’t we be angry that we can be seperated entirely if we fall in love with a non-citizen? Why shouldn’t we be angry that we’re subject to hate crimes so frequently? Why shouldn’t we be angry that our relationships are so frequently reduced to just sex? Why shouldn’t we be angry that we can have everything we own taken away from us by disapproving in-laws? Why shouldn’t we be angry we can be fired from our jobs for something that has no affect on our ability to work? Why shouldn’t we be angry that we account for forty percent of America’s under-eighteen homeless population? Why shouldn’t we be angry that our children are being literally bullied to death? Why shouldn’t we be angry that the children in our community get sent to modern concentration camps? Why are you not angry about these things?
Hey we agree. Denying reality won’t change it. Let’s see how wise you really are….
So why do you keep denying reality Frank?
The days when anti-gay bigots ruled are gone Frank but you’ll always have the past to live in. Now and increasingly in the future you’re just going to be seen as the hatefilled purveyor of injustice you are.
Those are certainly things to be hurt and angry over. You may have mischaracterized a little and assigned certain blame that I would disagree with but those things make me angry too. But honestly do you really think that blankety calling people bigots and haters because they feel and believe differently than you is helping you? Do you collectively not see the danger of myopic motivations and actions?
Frank, you’re being held responsible for those things because you’re actively working to perpetuate them. That’s also why I don’t think you’re telling the truth when you claim you’re also angry about it. You’re not being called a bigot and a hater just because you think we’re less than you. You’re a bigot and a hater because you think we’re less valuable than you are and that the law needs to reflect it. You clearly don’t care about the consequences of your hatred. You also clearly think it’s helping your side to whine and cry like a spoiled brat about how you’re somehow the victim because you’re not being allowed to abuse people unchallenged. It doesn’t fool us and it’s fooling fewer straight people each day.
Frank, its not a blanket call of bigotry, you are not being called a bigot and hater merely because you feel and believe differently. Many people feel and believe differently about all manner of issues, that in itself doesn’t make you a bigot and a hater and your attempt to trivialize the reasons why you’ve been so designated is disingenous and pathetic. You are being called a bigot and a hater, and rightfully so, because you seek to deny others the same rights you have and like the disgusting person you are you also attempt to characterize that oppression as trivial. The bigot/hater shoe fits Frank, where it or repent of the injustice you promote.
Frank, the CFA situation has clarified things to a certain extent. It was certainly clever to play it as a free speech issue when in fact what LBGT community most objected to was the money, its all about the money.
But, it would indeed be a denial of relaity to suggest that gay relationships and their profile in the media and on TV is not at an all time high of acceptance. That will evetnaully translate into cultural acceptance with or without SCOTUS ruling on marriage, DOMA.
As Priya says, “you seek to deny others the same rights you have”.That is waht CFA tsake an active part and is what makes LBGT community most angry about Cathy actions, not just what he said.

We’re not trying to get the heat off of anyone: we’re trying to refocus the issue on the truth: that the boycott wasn’t triggered exclusively by what Mr. Cathy said as the owner of CFA, but on the millions of dollars donated by CFA to some of the most notorious anti-gay groups in the nation – two of which are labeled hate groups by the Anti-Defamation League and Southern Poverty Law Center.
Frank,
If you’re tired of the Chick-fil-a situation feel free to not read anymore threads about it. Meanwhile many of us appreciate any effort to expose them for who they really are.
Thanks for proving my points. Once again is there any real leadership on this issue here? Who is writing this destined to fail narrative?
Business is only concerned with money, and IF SCOTUS takes a case they will fall back on state rights, 31 of which already have amendments and more in the works.
And even if SCOTUS rules on a definition of marriage it will be monogamous, heterosexual unions as a unique social construct.
So yeah it really sounds like your winning. : rolleyes
So I am very comfortable waiting for the inevitable conclusion.
For Phoenix I reject where you place blame. Look in the mirror.
Please report on the results of the 18 lawsuits that have been filed against Chik-fil-A.
Dear Frank:
Chick-fil-A has been sued for discrimination 12 times. Their alleged discrimination extends far beyond LGBT people. If you think the American people won’t care that they allegedly fire women because they won’t be stay at home moms. Or they won’t care that they allegedly fire people who won’t participate in Christian prayer circles, you are delusional.
America will care. And they might just choose to eat somewhere else. I think you know this. And I think that is what you are genuinely afraid of.
Once the majority sees that they don’t share Chick-fil-A’s radical values, the chain might be in a bit of a pickle.
Frank sure seems to be pissed that gay people are daring to speak up about stuff.
I used to care enough to oppose efforts for marriage equality. I shifted to support civil marital equality for varied reasons.
These kinds of strategies don’t aggravate me or encourage me. They just turn me off–because they look totally cynical to me.
I think the opposition to, and support of, CFA have almost nothing to do with principle. It is pure propoganda; pure political strategy–attempting to sucker me into one side or the other to lob bombs.
1700 franchises with probably 1-2 million employees over 35 years and you post a rejected applicants recount of a conversation 32 years ago at a Florida franchise to make the case?? Interview ten rejected applicants from the New York Yankees, White House or Human Rights Campaign and you’ll find at least one ‘awful story’ of just how prejudicial that group is. Please.
Maybe CFA supporters will put up a website to collect testimonials as to how wonderful they are–so judges can sentence murderers to life without parole and 20,000 hours of watching pro/anti CFA videos.
Frank probably also thought SCOTUS would repeal Obamacare, and look what happened.
Frank, I’ve been living as a gay person since 1969, and thus I’ve witnessed the extraordinary progress toward full equality. I can now confidently say that the final outcome is assured. The only question is the timing.
I applaud TWO’s venture to expose the truth about Chick-fil-A. The majority of Americans are not fond of fanatical religious zealots who seek dominion over the lives of everyone else. Back in the 1950′s I remember my beloved grandmother, who was religious, referring to fanatics as “holy rollers.” I predict that Chick-fil-A’s profits will rightly suffer. Nowadays there are so many fast food places that people can easily do without any one of them.
Frank said “Thanks for proving my points.”.
LOL, Frank, we’ve proved your points in the same way rain falling downward proves your points. With people like you if your lips are flapping that’s all the proof you need to believe what you’re saying is true. Keep denying reality Frank, you can always live in the past where you’re comfortable.
Melinda:
Do you know what know what looks cynical to me? Your negative attitude.
It would be ironic that Chick-Fil-A ended up paying legal fees, lawsuits, and settlements for discrimination with the money it got from people supporting discrimination.
Of course you reject blame Frank. You bigots always cry and scream when the consequences of your hatred are pointed out. Instead of actually being consistant about your mantra of “personal responsibility” you start reflecting and victim-blaming. Your hands are covered in blood.
“States rights” are just a bigoted dogwhistle for to take attention away from your bigotry. “States rights” didn’t fly when SCOTUS declared marriage one of the fundamental rights of man, the only reason to think it will fly now is to grasp at straws.
Yes Frank. Because all heterosexual couples procreate.
That line does NOT say marriage is only a right if its tied to procreation. You’re reading what you wish it said, not what it actually does. Typical of the distortion and lies of bigots such as yourself. Obviously many marriages never and can’t result in procreation, the idea that the U.S. supreme court was saying only fertile couples who actually conceive have a right to marriage is absurd, just like everything else you’ve said.
Gee you’re dumb Frank.
1) infertile couples marry
2) elderly couples marry who can’t procreate
3) many couples choose not to procreate.
Yet, they can marry despite no potential for offspring.
Duh. Next.
Frank said “The potential of procreation is what’s important.”.
Give it up Frank, the ruling doesn’t say that. Those are your words, not the loving vs virginia supreme court.
The idea that the U.S. supreme court was saying only fertile couples who actually conceive have a right to marriage is absurd, just like everything else you’ve said.
Frankie:
I noticed you failed to address my last point. Clearly, you lost this debate. But you are used to that, aren’t you.
Tell me. If you have a big government marriage test for gay couples, do you support one for straight couples. Would you deny straight couples marriage licences if they choose not to procreate? Or if they can’t?
Frank said “The potential of procreation is what’s important. Zero potential with SSM.”.
Zero potential with senior citizens and many infertile couples and they still marry. Procreation is not and has never been a requirement of marriage.
Yes, Frank. And several Supreme Court justices just backed Obama’s healthcare plan. Five courts just declared DOMA unconstitutional. There are many judges who hold many opinions.
Frank, thanks for undermining your idiotic procreation argument.
The only pathetic person is you Frank. Any imbecilic cretin can see that you are desperately trying to avoid actually answering anything you were asked. If marriage and procreation are so intimitely connected, why can infertal couples marry? Why aren’t shotgun weddings mandatory? Why aren’t there mandatory annulments if a child is not born within a certain time? Why are post-menopausal women allowed to marry? Why are couples with children allowed to divorce? If there was any basis to your claim all of these things would be law, but they’re not and you are making no attempt to change that. Just more proof that you’re a liar and a bigot.
Frank:
Of all trolls we have had, you are by far the dumbest one. you must be new to this debate thing.
You’re just proving how much of a coward and a liar you are Frank. If you’re so sure of your righteousness, why are you trying to deflect instead of arguing? Why are you so afraid to defend your position?
Frank:
You are so delusional. You fundies can’t even hold on to young Republicans anymore. Who’s in a bubble?
http://www.nytimes.com/2012/08/09/us/politics/young-republicans-erase-lines-on-social-issues.html?_r=1&hpw
You’re projecting Frank. It’s both a sign of mental illness and standard operating procedure for conservatives.
So you think my belief in my basic worth as a human being and deserving everything that goes with it is irrelevent. That’s why you’re a bigot.
@Frank,
I’ve been involved in boycotts before, including the successful effort to get GAP to sign a human rights accord with the National Labor Committees back in the 90s. (At their request I wrote a report titled “Gaping Injustice in El Salvador” for certain Espiscopal bishops – a copy of which also went to George Horton at CFC).
You may say and believe anything you want – but factually, boycotts are not overturned by high profile support days from supporters of a given cause or industry. They are decided by the grind over years, or sometimes decades.
If LBGT groups and their allies sustain the boycott (the most important thing) over time sales will drop, Chick fil a will suffer and change will occur. If said groups do NOT sustain said boycott – then its moot and Chick fil a can safely ignore the protests.
As for the counter protest day not getting attention, that’s certainly false, I’ve seen multiple pictures in media of teenage boys (many of them straight) kissing in front of Chick fil a counters.
Of course that’s the ultimate end of your efforts sir. Youth don’t buy it, really don’t. Support for LGBT equality among young people goes up and up the younger you go, regardless of parents, regardless of churches, etc. That support exceeds 70% across the board, and according to several polls exceeds 85% on things like equal protection, anti-bullying, equal employment and housing and so forth.
This really is the cancer thrashing around a bit, as the chemotherapy kills the last cells.
Kind thoughts,
Reyn
Frank, if we hated heterosexuals we’d be trying to deny them rights. That’s what your side does to us Frank, you’re the haters.
If you agreed with RainbowPhoenix in his basic worth as a human being you wouldn’t be trying to deny gays the same rights you have. No, its all about feeling superior for you Frank. Same sex marriage doesn’t affect you at all save in the sense that it takes away your sense of being better than others and that’s the sole reason you oppose equality, you have low self esteem and you’re deeply threatened by the thought of society declaring that yet another group is no longer your inferior.
The Hawaii ruling is out of sync with several recent court cases that have ruled in favour of equality. More than half of the American public supports marriage equality and that percentage grows every day. The U.S. supreme court won’t long ignore overwhelming public opinion in favour of equality. It’ll be just like the original rulings denying interracial marriage and then later saying that ruling was a mistake.
We are continuously making progress in the march towards equality. The trend is clear, unstoppable, and undeniable. You’ve already lost the war Frank, all that remains are battles that won’t change the outcome.
Dear Frank:
Don’t ever comment again. You are permanently banned on grounds of assholery.
Bye bye.
Yeah Frankie. You’re through. I erased all your comments. You wasted your entire day. Lol.
Holy crap. Talk about a disconnect with reality. Extra lolpoints for snarking at a moderator for *gasp* moderating.
Say, everyone…. Phrank is only here to make trouble and get attention. Don’t feed the troll; ignore it.
