No. This is a right-wing “whisper campaign” tactic and it is extremely powerful. The entire world would be a better place if this kind of “question” didn’t work on sexually insecure Americans. For example, if they hadn’t mounted a lesbian whisper campaign against Ann Richards, Geo. W. Bush never would have been governor of Texas, would never have gone on to be president, wouldn’t have started two wars…. and all b/c Texans were asked “Would you still vote for Ann Richards if you knew she was a lesbian?” And in their bizarre world, if you know anyone who is gay or lesbian, you must also be gay or lesbian. Objections to same gender attraction come in too categories: aesthetic (the “yuck factor”) and religious (” the Lard said two thousand years ago….” influence.
