There is no doubt that the Democrats hit a grand slam in Charlotte. It seemed those on the podium competed to outdo each other for the honor of “best speaker.” In comparison, the Republicans looked puny, uninspiring, and sparse on critical policy details.
The big question is, will the Democrats get a bounce in a race that may be decided by a razor thin margin?

Yeah, nice speeches, but I haven’t had steady work for almost two years now. What’s Obama planning to do about that? I was hoping to hear a plan, but I didn’t.
Well, Larry. I suppose we can return to Bush’s policies that probably cost you your job in the first place. And then you and millions of others may never work again.
what, exactly, is Obama’s plan to make things better?
Treating GLBT as equal citizens is a plan to make things better and not just for them because I believe the statement by Martin Luther King that injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. You have a point about the economy but should we put reactionaries and bigots into authority on the promise of economic pie in the sky?
The Republicans took the majority in the House of Representatives and State legislatures a couple of years ago. I remember a flurry of social legislation. Apparently preventing same sex marriage didn’t get you steady work.
Larry, Obama is trying to forward the American Jobs Act proposal, its coming up for a vote on Monday. It was introduced one year ago and economists including Mark Zandy a former Mccain economic advisor said it would create 2 million jobs. Last time it came up for a vote every single Republican voted against it. Instead of forwarding any jobs bills themselves in the last two years they backed 55 votes on anti-women policies.
Larry et al, there is one important thing to remember – the President is not a monarch, despite the caterwauling from the right. The President is the head of the Executive Branch of the US, which must work with 2 other branches – legislative and judicial – to affect changes in the law. The legislature at this point is largely unfriendly to the President’s attempts to exact change. It’s just as important to vote for your senators and representatives as it is to vote for the President.
