In a widely read column I wrote last November, I labeled anti-gay activist Linda Harvey the “Most Homop
hobic Woman in America.” The name seems to have caught on and no one disputes the truth behind the label — except for Harvey and a few of her equally horrid defenders.
Well, just when you thought Harvey couldn’t crawl any lower into the anti-gay gutter she bested herself by launching a new campaign to kick bullied gay kids when they are down. According to ABC News:
Linda Harvey of the Christian group Mission: America said she wants kids to know that bullying is wrong. She also wants them to know that “something called gay” is wrong too.
In her new guide on how to talk to kids about homosexuality, Harvey writes, “It’s not right to tell someone that being homosexual is okay. The person may be feeling sad because of being bullied, but never try to make him or [sic] feel better by saying “gay” is okay.”
The guide compares being gay to overeating:
“Kids who are overweight are sometimes bullied, too. And we might want to make that person feel better. But it would be a mistake to say that overeating is a good thing, right?”
Harvey said she wrote the brochure in response to requests by parents concerned their kids will be exposed to the “sin of homosexuality.” It’s geared toward Christian children who attend public school because, she said, school curricula almost always present homosexuality in a positive light and she wanted to make sure children were given a different viewpoint.
From Harvey’s convoluted point of view, because Dan Savage created the “It Get’s Better” campaign, it is her loving Christian duty to create the “It Gets Worse” campaign, in order to save those little homo heathens before it’s too late. When it comes to Harvey, nothing surprises me. Her war against gays knows no bounds. One wonders what happened in her life to make her so angry and homophobic.
It might be time to upgrade her status to: “The Most Homophobic Woman in the Universe.”

If the malicious bigot Limpbra Oyvey wants to make comparisons between overweight and homosexuality on a health sciences basis, then health sciences say that it is harmful for individual gay people to attempt to suppress their sexual orientation.
not wanting to lower myself to a name calling level, but that fake, saccharin smile looks as though it hides pure, unadulterated evil. I don’t get it. Why would a photo with that evil smile be utilized by the woman herself?
Linda Harvey would rather see gay kids dead – a true christian. That’s her schtick. BTW, she didn’t crawl into the gutter, she crawled up to the gutter from the sewer.
Ms Harvey is a monster done up to look like a woman. While you good Christian parents are telling your child that being gay is not OK, be sure tell them that your god considers them an abomination, society considers them scum, and you, their loving parents would love them more if they would just not choose to be gay. If you and your church and friends and school insult them and destroy their confidence they will try to be like you want – for at least some years into the future. They’ll never stop being gay, Ms Harvey, because it is just not possible; just like a hetero person will always be hetero no matter how they try to change. Those children whose lives you try to ruin will become stronger for the efforts they will have to eventually make when they realize that you, you monster, and their Christian parents and friends did everything to harm them and ruin their lives. THEY, themselves, will end up finding the courage to say you are wrong and that being gay is OK. They’ll have to simply because it will be a matter of living as one who cares about himself.
Dear Linda Harvey, and the parents looking to you for advice:
Do you know who agrees with you? That it’s never going to be OK for two men or two women to kiss or make a life together? That it’s never going to be OK for same-sex couples to live quiet, ordinary lives, free of challenges to basic civil rights?
The loved ones we have lost to suicide agreed with you.
I’m not talking about cause and effect, not saying that agreeing with you was the only or primary factor leading to their death.
The loved one I lost to suicide was in his mid 40s. His prior 22-year marriage with a woman he cared deeply for was a long, unsuccessful struggle to find intimacy together, compromising his mental health. No amount of therapy or support or prayer was going to change who he was.
Death by suicide is always complicated, no clear or easy answers or explanations.
But one thing I know: He died agreeing with you, that it was always going to be a struggle, never OK enough, never a simple, unremarkable thing, being gay.
Sit alone in a quiet place with that thought for a few minutes, Linda Harvey.
Glad to see Weightism exposed along w/ homophobia. I believe that Weightism is the last respectable prejudice. I am not talking about unhealthy bad eating weight. Some people were born stout and it is in their genetics. Look at your old art and photos. Women were born with curves….tummys, hips and breast. Jane Russell and Marilyn Monroe would be considered obese! It has to do with misogyny! Wake up they not only want to be homophobic but also want to control a woman’s body! I saw a great posting on f/b that said,” Homophobia is really men afraid that they will be treated by other men the way they treat their wives.” As a overweight woman I have been bullied all my life and still am at 51 years old. I have no diabetes, high cholesterol or etc. I eat healthy. Yeah I was a ministry student and was told I could not go on in ministry because I weighed 175 LBS. Nice people. God made me who I am!

That “fake, saccharine smile” is typical uniform for fundagelical christianist women who are simply mirroring to you Gawd’s Great Love and letting everyone know about the wonderful new life they have because Jeebus died for their sins and now they can treat everyone else like dawgsht because they’re not perfect, just forgiven! If you become a fundagelical christian you soon learn how to look, what to say, what you should believe (about everything), what you shouldn’t say, shouldn’t do, blah, blah, blah ad infinitum. Its really part of their culture, that saccharine smile, religious doublespeak (“love the sin, hate the sinner”) and believe me, those smiles cover a multitude of sins.
