I don’t think Berk and Goldberg are even Orthodox, let alone Ultra-Orthodox. I think Berk is Reform (which has accepted gays for years) and Goldberg is at best “Conservadox” (that is, a member of the Conservative Jewish community that leans toward Orthodox). Still, the Conservative Jewish branch also accepts gays.

The only motivation I can think for this work they undoubtedly think of as a “mitzvah” is shame. Shame for their children who are gay.

This is both pathetic and funny at the same time. Gay men hold your head up high and be who you are. There is no shame in being gay, just like I am not elevated for being straight. We each are what we are and are capable of finding a good partner and giving Love (not sex). It is all about LOVE and NOT about Sex.
