Acclaimed actress Sally Field was presented with the Human Rights Campaign’s Ally for Equality Award at the HRC National Dinner in Washington, D.C. Saturday night. She delivered an impassioned acceptance speech in which she said that the three things she was proudest of in her life are her three sons; Field then proceeded to honor her youngest son Sam, who is gay, and thank those who work for LGBT equality. She said:
“You all have fought for him as surely as if you were one of his parents. You’ve changed and are changing the lives of little boys and girls who realize somewhere along the way they’re just different from their other brothers and sisters—and so the f–k what?”
