This just in: TWO Executive Director Wayne Besen will be debating “ex-gay” therapist and NARTH spokesman David Pickup tonight on Alan Colmes‘ radio show at 11:05pm Eastern Time.
TWO readers will remember Pickup for a comical video advertisement in which he promises to help men “Work OUT of Homosexuality.” In the video, Pickup plugs his pray-away-the-gay workout regimen, saying that he offers “life coaching to supplement reparative therapy.” (If you haven’t seen it before, you simply must watch Pickup’s video below and listen to him tell you how much he loves “helping other men be men!”) He also claims that men who are “dealing with homosexual issues” need to “go deep” and “understand that below the homosexual issues lies a lack of his own inherent masculinity and manhood.”
I’m looking forward to hearing Wayne demolish this hapless crackpot’s anti-gay lies with the truth. To tune in, visit the Fox News Radio website tonight and listen live.
Watch David Pickup’s “ex-gay” workout video:

I wouldn’t listen to anything Fox broadcasts as it is all garbage.
Well this should be fun.
I don’t quite get Pickup. Is he trying to make gay people more butch? What on earth is this schmuck claiming to do?
Wayne:
Despite the swaggering image you cultivate, you have shown yourself to be pretty cowardly. I tipped you to the following story last week and included links, but you were too yellow-bellied to run it. Now The Advocate has covered it so I suppose you will hop on board. But don’t think your weak knees have gone unnoticed.

Steven, I’m not a spokesperson for Wayne, but as a friend and colleague of his and a representative of Truth Wins Out, I am appalled by your mischaracterization of Wayne — an honorable man who works tirelessly for LGBT equality — as “cowardly” and “yellow-bellied.” How dare you?!?
First of all, Wayne’s been on the road since last week fighting the “ex-gay” myth, so the amount of time he has to respond to emails has been very low.
Second, and more important, you have NO IDEA how many stories both Wayne and I are pitched every day. Many of them come to us exactly the same way you claim to have pitched Wayne — in an email, with copious links included. Speaking personally, while I would very much like to run every credible story that comes through my inbox, I quite simply do not have the time. Most days, I’m not even able to READ all the emails that come through my inbox, we get that much mail. I understand that you’re upset and bitter that Wayne didn’t have a chance to write up a post about your story, but you have to realize that a.) we’re a small organization, and while we do a great job, there are only so many hours in the day, b.) the blog is only one component of our work here at TWO, so neither Wayne nor I can devote entire days solely to the blog, and c.) contrary to what you may wish to believe, both Wayne and I have husbands, friends, families, and *lives* outside of work. We are just as entitled to that as you are. So save your self-righteous, pompous @$$sholery for somewhere else, because it isn’t welcome here.
You’re always welcome to pitch Wayne and I stories, but that in no way obligates us to cover them. Seriously, get over yourself.
Lighten up, Steven. As John just pointed out, running a blog and an organization isn’t glamorous. It’s hard work and unfortunately, things get omitted for lack of time, space, or the process of trying to get it all done. BUT I’m on your link and will run it on Holy Bullies and Headless Monsters.
Dear Steven:
You tipped me to nothing. I was on this story 2 years ago before it went public. I did not cover it because I’ve been on the road and it’s been difficult to get online. But I’m not your f*****g errand boy you don’t tell me what I should cover.
LOL Wayne!, love ya and the work you. I will be listening, BTW, make sure not to let Pickup get testy and to talk over you as he did with that CNN anchor.
@Steven
Wayne is pure courage. As is his staff.
Clean up your act.
You obviously have a mental disorder and need psychiatric care. Do us all a favor and do not comment here again. The gay community has enough to deal with without more psychotics laying in the Isles.
@ Steven:
This is a case of a “normal”, apparently heterosexual, married man who has been working for a right-wing Christian organization and has allegedly been leading a double life. Hardly a new phenomenon, so why is it particularly important? And how precisely does failure to cover it show that Wayne (or anyone else) is “cowardly” or “yellow-bellied” or has “weak knees”? I just don’t see it.
