As I see it Linda didn’t use an insult because her sense of privilege was challenged, she used an insult as a response to her being insulted in order to show that insults are not good arguments.
Sorry guys, I’m with Linda on this one. She was insulted and when she responded in the same way you tried to falsely claim it was because she felt she should be free from criticism – she never expressed any such sentiment.
What I’m trying to say is that Linda was insulted first, you guys can’t claim any sort of moral high ground because she responded with an insult.

Daniel, I didn’t really distinguish between whether you or Rainbow were posting but one or the both of you pretended that you had some sort of moral high ground on Linda, no objective observer would agree, you’re as bad as she is.
If you want to make the most convincing arguments you should be concerned with how you come across, but, hey if you don’t care about rational people taking you seriously then neither do I.

Rainbow, calling someone a loser is not a criticism. She did not assert that criticizing her was a violation of her right to have an opinion. She asserted that insulting her was an attempt to shut her up – I agree with her. Then you and/or Daniel tried to criticize her for insulting you but you had no criticism for Gary insulting her. You guys have a double standard – insults were okay for Gary, but not for Linda.
And I agree, Obama won the debate and most rational people would agree with that. But Obama was not as clear cut a winner of the second debate as Romney was of the first so her calling Romney the winner wasn’t completely absurd.

That’s a crock of bull-puckey right there. (“Bull” being a good example of a word that has derivative definitions that have not lost their effectiveness despite a complete inapplicability of the original meaning. Unless you have a good explanation for how a “bull” market, calling someone on their “bull,” and unaltered male cattle have anything real relation.)
Though I disagree with Linda on who won the debate, I agree entirely with her point that hurling insults is both juvenile and a sign of a poorly thought-out position.
I felt that Romney totally wiped out Obama in the first debate.The second he made a few good points,but got a little too aggressive at trying to convince the people to where he stands on the issues.What I see is our country is no better off now than 4 years ago.Obama did do a better debate the second go around than Romney.My vote will go to Romney/Ryan no question about that.I trust Romney?Ryan more so than Obama/Biden This day and time there aren’t many politicians that I do trust.
Kathryn, if I wanted a president who would deny science, put right-wing judges on the Supreme Court, roll back gay rights, benefit the richest people at the expense of everyone else, trash the environment, massively increase military spending, roll back the right to abortion and even contraception, make the US once again the world’s bully, and agitate for another war in the middle east, Romney/Ryan would be the guys I would trust, too.
Kathryn Burnett: Why do you trust what Bishop Romney tells you this week? He’s just gonna change his mind in whatever direction the wind is blowin’ next month. He promoted mandated universal health care in Massachusetts and now he’s against it. He supported gay rights in Massachusetts and now he’s against it. He supported a woman’s right to choose and now he’s against it. He’s magically going to solve the deficit and keep all of the tax breaks the rich have and not harm medicare. He’s going to raise military spending at the same time he’s cuttin’ that ole deficit, too just to show us it can be done. In the meantime, how many $ does he have stashed in the Cayman Islands? Clearly Obama won. Linda are you actually one of us? GoProud maybe? I was Republican when I was young, then I saw where that logic led and became independent before becoming a Democrat. Kind of like coming out of the closet for many people “Of course straight….I’m bisexual…Gay as f*ck.” Instead (I was always out) “I’m Republican…I’m voting for Perot…Democrat”
That leads me to say… I do not understand GoProud or the Log Cabin. I do not understand Republican members of any minority at this point actually. Still, not my business, but please don’t try to tell me that the positions are logically consistent. They aren’t.
