Last night, or so I’ve read, somebody out there in the far reaches of the Twitterverse thought it’d be funny to start a homophobic hashtag: #SignsYoSonIsGay.
Today, though, equality supporters all across the internet, including celebrities like Dan Savage and Ben Patrick Johnson, said hell no. They took the hashtag back, flipping it from an expression of anti-gay bigotry to an affirmation of LGBT equality.
And on Spirit Day, no less. Faith in humanity restored.

Still I have no faith in most humanity. The majority of humans will continue to be just as ignorant and self-serving and evil as always, and will do good deeds only when they must, or others are watching, or it’s socially cool to do them. Or there is something to gain. The minority who transcend this are the special few and far between. Thanks goodness we have them.
