Looks like the start of France’s marriage equality debate will begin one week later than originally planned. From CBS News:
The legalization of same-sex marriages and adoption was one of the most contentious points in Socialist President Francois Hollande’s election manifesto earlier this year.
Prime Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault first named Oct. 31 as the date when government ministers would present the law, insisting there would be no backtracking.
But his office said Friday that this date has been pushed back to Nov. 7. And the debate in parliament is now expected to last until January.
On Thursday, France’s Chief Rabbi Gilles Bernheim joined other religious leaders in opposing the plans, while more than 1,200 French mayors and their deputies have signed a petition protesting them.
Lest anyone be misled into thinking that 1,200 mayors is a statistically large number, don’t forget that it represents less than one percent of the mayors and deputy mayors in France.
H/t: Joe. My. God.

So the religious leaders are at it again, insisting that homosexuals may only be permitted to marry heterosexuals, and that somehow, said heterosexuals will consent to marry a homosexual who has not one scintilla of either romantic or sexual interest in them.
All this so we can spend a ghastly eternity in the company of gay hating religious fundamentalists in their self congratulatory construction of Heaven.
