Well this is interesting: the largest newspaper in the Mormon-heavy state of Utah has declined to endorse Mitt Romney, the first-ever Mormon presidential nominee from a major party. In an editorial published today titled “Too many Mitts,” the Salt Lake Tribune called the Republican candidate Utah’s “favorite adopted son,” then announced that it was endorsing Barack Obama instead:
“Sadly, [the Romney Utahns thought they knew] is not the only Romney, as his campaign for the White House has made abundantly clear, first in his servile courtship of the tea party in order to win the nomination, and now as the party’s shape-shifting nominee. From his embrace of the party’s radical right wing, to subsequent portrayals of himself as a moderate champion of the middle class, Romney has raised the most frequently asked question of the campaign: ‘Who is this guy, really, and what in the world does he truly believe?’
“The evidence suggests no clear answer, or at least one that would survive Romney’s next speech or sound bite. Politicians routinely tailor their words to suit an audience. Romney, though, is shameless, lavishing vastly diverse audiences with words, any words, they would trade their votes to hear. . .
“Where, we ask, is the pragmatic, inclusive Romney, the Massachusetts governor who left the state with a model health care plan in place, the Romney who led Utah to Olympic glory? That Romney skedaddled and is nowhere to be found. . .
The paper concludes,
In considering which candidate to endorse, The Salt Lake Tribune editorial board had hoped that Romney would exhibit the same talents for organization, pragmatic problem-solving and inspired leadership that he displayed here more than a decade ago. Instead, we have watched him morph into a friend of the far right, then tack toward the center with breathtaking aplomb. Through a pair of presidential debates, Romney’s domestic agenda remains bereft of detail and worthy of mistrust.
Therefore, our endorsement must go to the incumbent, a competent leader who, against tough odds, has guided the country through catastrophe and set a course that, while rocky, is pointing toward a brighter day. The president has earned a second term. Romney, in whatever guise, does not deserve a first.
Ouch.

“Ouch” is an understatement in this context.
Now, let’s hope the rest of America also comes to its senses and decides not to vote for this false prophet.
What a divine self annihilation Romney is executing upon hinself. Has anyone in the history of
mankind ever been such a walking talking basket of fish flop on the world stage? It’s truly humorously pathetic. What’s even more amazing are the number of votes he is gathering in his fish suit.
I see him knitting fishnet stockings in a rocking chair after losing the election. If he attaches a Romney label, count me in for a buy.
Wow arn’t these the same devils who poured money and propaganda into california to defeat gay marraige? I’m concerned that Obamas pandering to us, by finally allowing to serve in the military,is just that. he knew we were pissed, and were not going to turn out on election day. Ive read some very disturbing information on how Obama on the down low. had gay people. whom he’d had relations with. murdered. Do we really have a friend in this race!
MJB, what credible place/source did you EVER read such ridiculousness? If you are asking yourself that, the answer certainly isn’t Romney, he’s made that clear. Passing legislation isn’t pandering-it’s putting your money where your mouth is.
MJB — cut the BS. You sound insane. If you are basing your vote on such obvious lies that have been placed in the blogosphere to fool dumb gays — then you are a stooge.
MJB, that nonsense was invented by some ultra rightwing nut propaganda site. MSNBC even did a piece on it and they gave the name of the crazy who invented it (I don’t remember what it was) and showed his picture.
Ah, finally it’s endorsement season. But for the record, the FluffingtonPost was first out the gate with its funny endorsement in the Obama/Romney race. Is it who you think it will be? Read, chuckle and find out: http://www.chicagonow.com/fluffington-post/2012/09/presidential-endorsement/
The Salt Lake Tribune was founded with an anti-mormon editorial board. Something to consider. That and their 2008 endorsement of Obama mentioned him 10 times and McCain 9 times. This endorsement mentions Obama 2 times and Romney 20 times. Strange endorsement to only mentioned the candidate you support twice.
Romney is just another brainwashed puppet of the right wing racist Mormon Church. If he had a back bone and a brain he would be dangerous.
