<description>This is exactly the question that goes unanswered by ex gays.
Even well meaning ones like Chad Thompson.
My question was: how can you effectively and with convincing economy, defend what you so roundly and vocally reject?

You cannot defend gay people and their dignity, while at the same time representing a rejection and support of rejecting homosexuality.

As I like to say, straddling a fence cuts of circulation to your cojones.

Usually they respond as if it's a stupid question, to contemptable to dignify with an answer.
But as they present themselves as such experts and morally grounded people...I expect an answer would be easy. It would be for someone who isn't insecure, living in denial or requiring a certain facade to exact unchallenged acceptance.

The answer simply is this: you can't.
And mores the point, why don't they just say that?

<description>Well, Prof. Throckmorton is not (to my knowledge) ex-gay, so I try not to call him an "ex-gay pundit."

"Pro-ex-gay" is definitely an awkward construction -- but that is clearly the responsibility of ex-gays, for creating an anti-identity in the first place.

Can you imagine how this article would begin if we accepted the latest anti-identities, "formerly gay identified", "former homosexual", and -- oh, why not -- "future heterosexual"?

"Professor Throckmorton, a pro-formerly-gay-identified, pro-anti-gay-identified pundit who identifies as a non-homosexual non-future heterosexual who serves homosexual future heterosexuals...."</description>
