Focus on the Family leader James Dobson released his attack dogs today, viciously smearing me because I have shown him to be dishonest and distort research. In a screed on the group’s website it referred to me as an, “infamous homosexual activist” and urged his listeners to vote for him, so he could be in the Radio Hall of Fame:
“This attack is yet more evidence of why Dr. Dobson deserves a spot in the Radio Hall of Fame,” said Gary Schneeberger, vice president of media and public relations at Focus on the Family.”For 32 years, he has been willing to take the unfriendly fire of the Wayne Besens of the world because that is the price to be paid for championing family values and defending biblical principles in the public square.”
What I found interesting is that Focus on the Family failed to mention the seven respected scientists who accused Dobson of distorting their work - which is the main reason Truth Wins Out launched its campaign in the first place. It seems that Dobson and his henchmen rather smear the messenger than legitimately answer why Dobson has distorted research and cherry picked the results to suit his political agenda.
Please vote against James Dobson today and SIGN OUR PETITION.
Also please consider a tax-deductible contribution for Truth Wins Out. Help us fight right wing propaganda and the “ex-gay” myth. Our work - the research, media advocacy and videos below cost money. We can’t do this without your help. We hope you will join our work by contributing today.

OK, so “F*** us and the Family” (in the name of god) feels that they will be validated somehow by Dr. Dobson being in the radio hall of fame? Aren’t Rush and Imus in there? Maybe Dobson DOES belong there.

I find it silly that God, I mean, Dobson, is after Wayne over this secular award. To Dobson, everything secular is vile - so why would Dobson be so concerned over receiving this vile, secular radio award?
Hey, I’m just going by the way they talk.
And by his own standards, Dobson isn’t even supposed to OWN a radio, much less be a show host on radio.

E-MAIL SENT TO:MR. BRUCE DUMONT,
Founder and President, Radio Hall of Fame:
You are President and Founder of the National Radio Hall of Fame. It is both shameful and a tragedy for your organization to nominate James Dobson and the “Faith in the Family” program.
Dobson might get in. Billy Graham, the Metropolitan Opera, “Meet The Press” founder Lawrence Spivak, Walter Cronkite, NPR’s “All Things Considered” and even Lucille Ball didn’t.
Eddie Anderson, “Rochester” on the Jack Benny program, died in 1977. It took 13 more years before he became the first person of color to be inducted.
By now, you know James Dobson is most identified for his bigotry and discrimination. Your organization and the age of radio deserve better. I know I’m not alone in finding this nomination an insult and most certainly worthy of your re-consideration.

Allen, that’s a great letter! Can you post the email address of Bruce DuMont, so we can all write him? There’s no way dobshit should be in that hall of fame. Hall of Shame, yes.

Since when has $180-million annual budget from old ladies and misguided Christians been considered ‘paying the price’? Talk about a return on investment if the price is being called out on his lies.
