David Benkof (formerly Bianco) - the gay writer turned anti-gay religious extremist - is getting published in mainstream newspapers. It is not because of his weak, sophistic, inarticulate arguments. The reason he gets press is because of his bizarre - man-bites dog biography that positions him as a gay journalist who is against same-sex marriage.
The only problem is, Bianco is not a gay columnist. He was dumped from the Dallas Voice and Q-Notes the moment they found out that he was a double-talking fraud. Despite the end of his GLBT journalism career, he still has his fake credentials listed on his website, a testament to his low character.
Mr. Bianco, take down your fake resume and get published based on the merit of your work, not your phony biography. I predict that his journalism career will be over in a relatively short amount if time. Mr. Benkof lacks the ethical standards and morals to succeed in this business. He has already been accused on at least two occasions of misquoting people and twisting their words to fit his political agenda. People of this ilk often get weeded out and I doubt Bianco will be an exception.

Bianco is also saying he’ll be published in tomorrows S.F. Chronicle. . .haven’t they been warned about this fraud?

Apparently not. We have to work hard to get the word out and educate people about who this two-faced clown really is.

Well, Wayne, he did say on Box Turtle that he totally hearts Bill Kristol, who lies with about the same frequency and with the same air of self-hatred thinly veiled under smug satisfaction.
So maybe that’s the career path Bianco/Benkof is shooting for?

True. I just caught him in another lie over at box turtle. He can now take down his “Washington State” reference.

Is he not from Washington State?

He lied about being published by a gay newspaper in Washington State. I called the publisher and they’d never heard of him.

Which paper?
Comment by Wayne Besen — June 26, 2008 @ 6:56 pm
He mentioned the paper: “Stonewall News Northwest”. It’s a small gay publication in Spokane WA by the Idaho border. It was easy enough to pick up the phone and talk with the publisher. . . he confirmed that they’ve never published anything by him, nor had they ever heard of him.

This Beeanko is something else. What a character. Thanks for the information. He is the new Paul Cameron for the right wing. He;ll say or do anything. Distorting facts and manipulating the truth is his hobby.

Gary, that was great work you did. Wayne, I’ve been contacting gay papers and asking if they know who he is as well. I don’t know about the mainstream press - they can print whatever they want - but gay papers should not be giving this self-loather attention-grabber a platform.

Benkof says that “As for the gay press, one of the other large NGNG papers has invited me to write a series of short opinion pieces”.
There are only 12 of them I think . .I’d start there Emily.

Bay Area Reporter knows who he is and doesn’t represent him or carry his work.

I did get an interesting reply from the subject of benks attack piece (Partners Task Force for Gay & Lesbian Couples / buddybuddy.com). Part of which says:
“The only other person to send us information about Benkof’s attack piece was Benkof, himself. He said he wanted to be fair — and if we changed our policies, he would make mention of it on his blog.”
That’s rich.

The Philadelphia Gay News, my hometown gay paper, has told me that they don’t think Benkof’s work is “ready for a professional gay publication.”
