On January 25, I accused the “ex-gay” organization Exodus International of endemic sloth.
With an alleged one-million dollar budget and 13 staff members, Exodus had essentially gone into hibernation. It had not updated its tired website since Nov. 16, 2009. The only peep from the organization comes from periodic posting on the group’s vanity blog by Vice President Randy Thomas.
I guess my criticism lit a fire under President Alan Chambers’ derriere. On January 26, one day after my charges were leveled, he cleared the cobwebs and took a break from praying away his gay to update Exodus’ site.
A new work ethic had been born!!
Well, not exactly.
Since January 26, Exodus has not bothered to update its site. That’s right, we are nine days into February and Exodus is peddling old news, just like it hawks outdated ideas. Likewise, the group’s Exodus Youth site has not been updated since Dec. 1, 2009. The Exodus Church Association site hasn’t changed since August 2009.
While the group’s slogan is “Freedom is Possible”, apparently hard work is another story.
Finally, why is Exodus still not promoting San Diego’s March 6, “Love Won Out” conference on its main site’s front page? They supposedly bought the “ex-gay” road show from Focus on the Family last year. San Diego is its first foray without Focus – yet there has barely been a word of promotion.
In one year’s time, Exodus’ online properties have gone from robust to just plain bust. It is worth considering that the worldwide economic meltdown has affected Exodus more than it’s activist leaders are letting on. It is implausible that the group is still fully staffed and functional, yet unable to carry out the basic online functions it succeeded at only one year ago.
What is really going on at Exodus, Mr. Chambers?

I clicked on the linked to the Exodus site and saw the map on the right hand side of “Exodus Visitors” where my little red dot was blinking… It really creeped me out, and I closed the window immediately. Scary stuff that site, I am glad you are reading it and not me!
It’s interesting too that the copyright on the bottom of the main page still says 2005. Its really not that hard to write a script to automatically make the copyright notice pull the current year.
When an organization is too lazy to take care of the most minor of details, you can be sure it shows sloppiness and uncaring from top to bottom. Perhaps the “ex-gay” advocacy group “Exodus” could take a little time and money away from promoting genocide in Uganda and clean up its site?
Of course, mid March will kind of be the 1st anniversary of the Uganda conference. How do they intend to commemorate it?
Adrian, here is a preview of their anniversary plans.

thanks Michael – at Liberty ‘University’, where they exhibit dinosaur fossils that they say are no more than 3,000 years old.
So, it is highly appropriate that Chambers should make his presentation at an institution that stands as an insult to truth, to science, to reason and to dignity.

maybe they aren’t updating because there just isn’t that much “good news” happening for Exodus.
It’s true, there’s no good news for them on the ex-gay conversion front.
Most of Exodus’ activity is now directed to the prevention and destruction of Constitutional equality for LGBT people in the United States, and the eradication of LGBT people abroad.
Those activities aren’t compatible with the misleading, sappy-happy, faux-religious veneer of the Exodus web site.
Maybe their Covenant Eyes all malfunctioned at the same time in December and they’re on a porn bender.
I think Evan might have solved the puzzle. I’m voting for the Covenant Eyes malfunction.
But, they are also going to Belfast to spread their lies. So, while they don’t have time to work in the US, they do have time for tea-drinking junkets.
