Yesterday on the 700 Club, televangelist Pat Robertson seemed to portray CIA Director David Petraeus as the real victim of the growing sex scandal involving him and his biographer, Paula Broadwell. According to Robertson: “The man’s off in a foreign land and he’s lonely and here’s a good-looking lady throwing herself at him. He’s a man.”
And the GOP wonders why it tanked in the elections with single women?

So, let’s see if I get it. Loving gay couples cannot marry and have the same legal protections for their families that heterosexuals have. BUT… heterosexuals’ aduterous affairs (the Bible calls for death to adulterers) can be overlooked with a wink. The lesson from anti-gay activist Robertson is that sin is okay if you sleep with the opposite sex. What would Jesus say to that?
Of course it’s always the woman’s fault. And how does this jackass know that she ‘threw herself at him’–by being in the same room?
I always get a laugh from those pictures of him praying with eyes closed…looks like he is passing a kidney stone and saying almost there…almost there…

AND the message is loud and clear: if you are a lonely soldier and you are a man and you need sex, it is OK to cheat on your WIFE. If you are gay, if is barely OK for you to breathe let alone have a sex life.

His attitude reminds me of the same fundamentalist mind-set seen in Taliban ruled Afghanistan, where women are punished and imprisoned, even killed, because they were raped.
