U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia is a caveman with backward views and anachronistic interpretations of the constitution.
While speaking at Princeton University, the judge was asked by a gay student why he equates laws banning sodomy with those barring bestiality and murder. According to the Associated Press:
“I don’t think it’s necessary, but I think it’s effective,” Scalia said, adding that legislative bodies can ban what they believe to be immoral.
Some in the audience who had come to hear Scalia speak about his book applauded but more of those who attended the lecture clapped at freshman Duncan Hosie’s question.
“It’s a form of argument that I thought you would have known, which is called the ‘reduction to the absurd,’” Scalia told Hosie of San Francisco during the question-and-answer period. “If we cannot have moral feelings against homosexuality, can we have it against murder? Can we have it against other things?”
Scalia said he is not equating sodomy with murder but drawing a parallel between the bans on both.
Then he deadpanned: “I’m surprised you aren’t persuaded.”
Scalia’s argument is absurd. It is the equivalent of him saying: “The government has the right to ban food it doesn’t care for. So, it can prohibit oatmeal, just as it can prohibit restaurants from serving rat poison. They are both ingested, so they can both be considered food.”
Of course, one is harmful (rat poison) and one is harmless (oatmeal), just as murder is harmful and homosexuality is benign. Furthermore, imprisoning innocent gay people for being who they are is cruel, while keeping murderers off of the street serves a legitimate public function. That Scalia can’t differentiate between evil acts and benign ones proves that he is an ideologue with ossified ideas.
The article goes onto state:
Hosie said afterward that he was not persuaded by Scalia’s answer. He said he believes Scalia’s writings tend to “dehumanize” gays.
As Scalia often does in public speaking, he cracked wise, taking aim mostly at those who view the Constitution as a “living document” that changes with the times.
“It isn’t a living document,” Scalia said. “It’s dead, dead, dead, dead.”
On so many levels Scalia is an atrocious judge who is an embarrassment to the bench. History will judge the judge quite harshly.

It is unconscionable that turkeys like Scalia and Uncle Thomas are justices for life. They have clear conflicts of interest and refuse to recuse themselves. Their politicization of the Court and their arrogant lack of self-reflectiveness is breathtaking.
Don’t forget that Scalia is talking at Princeton because his principal ally in political gay-bashing, NOM founder and FRC board member Princeton Professor Robert George is there.
I just don’t know what you have against cavemen.
Yeah. Don’t be hatin’ on the dudes in the fur suits! Thomas and Scalia are more like Australopithecus boisei…and that might be too generous.
His near hysteria over this issue makes me wonder how much of a response a cock meter would register on scalia’s dick if he were watching gay porn. He doth protest a little too much.
LMAO! My husband and I laughed ourselves sick at the image. I mean, here’s Sacalia all hooked up, they show him the porn…he reacts as most homohaters do, and then he’s saying “Wait! Shut this thing off! I shouldn’t be reacting like this. Turn it o-o-o-o-o-fff!”
Given his many public statements on the issue, not recusing himself from the upcoming cases should be grounds for impeachment.
“Justice” Scalitorum should be required to recuse himself for unjust bias.
Ben in Oakland ……. I so agree. Those cavemen in those tv commercials would be so distressed about the title to this article. As far as we know, Sunday champagne brunch after a night in boys town was not out of the question.
All bitchy comments aside, if Scalia had an ounce of decency in him, he would recuse himself because of his strong and undeniable antigay bias. But of course, being a Rethuglican homohater, he won’t.
If the constitution is so dead, dead, dead, dead, why don’t we bury it? His bias has been made so public that we already know how he will vote in any gay equality cases. How is this possible in this country? He is extremely prejudiced and this is a terrible situation concerning a Supreme Court Justice. This man is a horrifying example of judicial misconduct. Any lesser level justice would be forced to recuse himself from any and all cases relating to his bias. Frankly, he shouldn’t be anywhere near a court room let alone the highest court in this land.
Scalia—I taught school for 34 years while struggling mightily to change from gay to straight with the “help” of a well-known Midwest clinic back in the 50′s, that still practiced reparative therapy. No insurance. Paid it out of my own pocket. Even became a Catholic for a while, thinking they had more miracles than my Methodist church. They didn’t. Guess what—I never molested a male student and, even more surprising to you I’m sure, never killed anyone!! Now, I’m a happy, gay Atheist and attitudes like yours AREN’T going to change me or any other gays. If God created us in his own image, then a part of God must be gay. Oh yes, do hermaphrodites choose to be so? If not, then God is also partly hermaphroditic. No?
I must agree with Jerry there – please Mr. Scalia – answer the question about hermaphrodites. I would just love to hear your stupid answer to that one. What a sad excuse for a human being you are.
God, can you imagine the firestorm from Faux if some big name pointed out Scaliar should recuse himself? “Next the gays are going to gag little Suzy Lou and Benny Bob!!!! P.S. Buy guns1!0101″
You all know that Scalia’s son is a R.C. priest, don’t you? I wonder if that could possibly be a major link to his virulent anti-gay attitudes. It wouldn’t be the first time that a parent of a gay person became an outspoken anti-gay activist.
Scalia is an arch-Catholic himself. It wouldn’t surprise me if he is a member of Opus Dei.
He previously said that politicians and judges who can’t carry out the commands of the Vatican should resign:

I haven’t researched it. But I think he must have more than 1. I met one of them /some20 years ago, and I think he was a lawyer. He was with his firlfriend or wife,
