Former Pope Benedict XVI has ginned up an odd arrangement with his sexy secretary, Monsignor Georg Gänswein, who has been compared to a cross between George
Clooney and Hugh Grant. The sex symbol will continue to live with Benedict, while working for the new Pope during the day. This peculiar situation has the Internet abuzz, because there have long been rumors that the two men were gay, male, homosexual lovers (yeah, I’m using redundant shame words, because the Pope wouldn’t have it any other way)
According to Andrew Sullivan:
This man – clearly in some kind of love with Ratzinger (and vice-versa) will now be working for the new Pope as secretary in the day and spending the nights with the Pope Emeritus. This is not the Vatican. It’s Melrose Place.
If Ratzinger is truly in a gay, male, homosexual relationship, there will be a special place in hell waiting for him. His career has been marked by worldwide attacks on LGBT people so vicious, he makes Roy Cohn look like Harvey Milk. It is almost inconceivable that he launched those sickening salvos from the closet — and if this turns out to be the case, he can only be described as an awful human being.
This is the Internet age and secrets are more difficult to maintain. Maybe Larry Flynt could offer $5 million to anyone who has concrete evidence that the former Pope is living with his boyfriend, in a castle subsidized by the donations of Catholics across the globe.

You immoral, sub-human freaks disgust me. It is you that are going to hell, not the Pope. Homos live a life of immorality 24/7/365 and do not repent for the sinful lives they lead.
TRUTH WINS OUT…HOMOSEXUALITY IS IMMORAL
Steve…bend over and grab your ankles while I deliver my official response to your post.
Idk, if I’m going to hell because I’m a homo, then I think a lot of the Catholic Church will be there with me when God remembers the huge pedophilia, child molestation cover up.
Your hell is as fictional as your god.
Exactly, well put….funny how the church has to go to backwards cultures, such as those in Africa, now that the west is outgrowing this crap.
Steve, do you give money to any organization that has a history of enabling and covering up the rape of children?
Hey, Steve, my morals are just fine, thank you. As are those of otherLGBT people our there. I have been legally married for six years now and we have a marriage that is stable, loving, happy, and mutually-monogamous. I do not go around hiding pedophiles or acting sanctimonius then moving in with a man rumoured to be my lover. The ex-Pope is a hypocrite in my book.
So take your bigotry and self-righteousness and CRAM IT!
Wayno has a stiffy for the Monsignor. Typical freak.
He’s not bad looking at all. If he’s the Pope’s boyfriend the Pope could do a lot worse.
Steve, speculting about ther peopl’s hard ons is a little, well, how shall we put delicately….
…ummmmm…
GAY!
Steve, he’s not my type, really. But objectively speaking he is a very attractive man. But, unlike the Pope, if I was interested, I would be happy to say so.
You know, it must be increasingly lonely and awkward to hold your backward opinions. What you believe is quickly becoming the view of only the oldest senior citizens who are stuck in their ways, a rapidly shrinking number of zealots, and closeted homosexuals.
Normally I’m in TWO’s corner, but this just seems like wild speculation… It would be fantastic were it true, but posting stuff like this, without substantive evidence or corroboration, doesn’t make you a breaking news source so much as it damages credibility for your other information. Don’t you agree? Am I off base here?
I agree Tim, don’t we want to talk about truth, to post rumors with no facts, is not right. I get it that many of us including my self, are angry with the pope. But isn’t this site suppose to be about truth.
There is a big battle between weather one can be healed or not. In my many years of searching for healing, I never found it, and never really found anyone that was healed. I meet 2 who possibly were, but, if people where truly being healed, then there would be many of us who were hetrosexual, and many of us who were LGBT who didn’t want to be, would be there in a moment. I not saying that everyone want to be healing. I know that if I could be healed, I would give anything. I find it so hard to be different, I haven’t accepted myself yet and it is such a hard struggle for me because the church has taught such hatred. It’s funny though, they claim homosexuality can be cured, but yet they can’t cure the common cold, I haven’t seen anyone raise the dead, yet I believe that God could, if he did, or if he has it has been very rare, otherwise we would all have seen it and all truley believe it. Anyways sorry to go off on a rampage.
Exactly right, Tim. Personally, I suspect Benedict XVI is asexual — he is extremely intellectual and doesn’t seem terribly passionate. If he is gay in orientation, I’m sure he doesn’t act on it, for he is self-loathing. To me, this is clearly a case of an 85-year-old German-speaking man who finds familiarity and comfort in the help of German-speaking Father Georg. Mind you, Georg is handsome, and I’m sure he enjoys being an archbishop and the great prestige that comes with being secretary to a pope. But I just can’t picture him and Benedict making out. No, that is absurd and baseless.
Good Goddess those blue eyes!
he is dreamy…if your “into” those types of things…(men)
I’m kinda with Tim on this one. However TWO deserves to post a little idle gossip every now and again.
It doesn’t damage my credibility at all. Homosexual, closeted priests are not exactly unknown to the Roman Catholic Church. One cannot escape the fact that blackmailed gay priests may have played a role Benedict’s downfall. And, his retirement was unprecedented.
I’d be willing to bet my life savings that the two men are in love.
You are correct. You had no credibility to begin with. So sad.
That was a silly comment. Sort of on a second grade level.
Wayne, that is a hefty bet. Though while I do like the odds, I’m not going to risk it. By the way, how much would that life savings be estimated at, you know just in case some one wants to take that bet? Also I think some of the parameters should be hashed out. If they had a casual encounter does it count, and when are they classified as “lovers.” We must also include the possibility that revelations concerning pedophilia may arise and that even if performed with young boys should not apply to the condition that the former pope is a closeted homosexual. Still the odds are in your favor.
The expope is so f*****g gross.
Apart from whether or not the pope is having an affair with this man I think it is much more likely than not that he is gay just because we’ve seen over and over again that the most stridently anti-gay men are often same sex attracted themselves. There is research to back that up as well.
Steve, you have no basis on which to claim gayness is immoral. Anything that does not hurt others is moral, gayness is moral by definition.
Well, since nearly everyone is same-sex attracted on some level, I guess it’s a fair bet that Joseph Ratzinger is, too. Besides that, he also seems gay.
Even if this was true, I’d have to say that the secretary’s taste in men is REALLY warped. However, it is a very odd arrangement. I can just see the secretary carrying gossipy little tidbits back to Pope Emeritus each evening.
For every type, there is an admirer
Good for him if he has a gay lover. It will give him something to do during his retirement. However, for covering up child abuse, he deserves to rot in hell. Of course, crimes against humanity are common among the popes of history. It’s nothing new. This is simply a cult that should be shut down. Enough is enough!
Wayne, with all due respect to the fact that the Roman Catholic papacy in general and this pope in particular embody things that are not good in this world, is this really necessary? I mean, is it really likely that this 85 year old man resigned from the papacy so that he could finally, at the end of his life, shack up with his boyfriend? Really? I am as glad as anyone to see this pope go, and if he is to be kicked, it is for running the Holy Inquisition for 25 f*****g years before becoming the replacement to the jolly but equally reactionary Pole before him, but when you get down to it, isn’t it becoming a problem that when Catholic priests err, it is always assumed that it happens in the male direction? I don’t mean to suggest that Mr. Ratzinger has a dishy nun waiting for him in a habit and silk stockings, but still. To me the central thing in this story, while fully understanding that the cardinals who will gather at the Vatican this month to choose the next grand poobah have a combined age which probably stretches back to Jesus himself (halleluia!) will not choose someone who is likely to recognize that the world has moved into the 21st century, is that the Roman Catholic Church really needs to stop pretending that it is the great moral arbiter of all that goes on in the world. Our modern age is of knowing everything because of the Internet has allowed us to understand that the Vatican is one unbelievably corrupt institution, which is particularly dangerous because it is as rich as Croesus. Imagine dividing up all that wealth among the people whom Benedict claimed to be so concerned about. I guess that at the end of the day, the Roman Catholic Church is a sad thing. So very mired in the very, very distant past. So very fixated on the area between the legs of human beings, which means that it cannot be focused on the area a bit above — where the heart and, if you will, the soul are found. So very evil in hiding predators for decades, and if it has become known in our age of knowing everything that this has happened for decades, then surely it happened for centuries before that, when news did not whip around the planet every three seconds. But in the case of this crumbled old man, I guess I want to say that let him be. He says he’s going to mediate. He’s going to have a lot to meditate about. But let’s let him be. The far greater worry is who’s going to come next.
Karlis
Fabulous comment and i have allignment with all you say. Obviously inteligently considerred words and very logical. However I must bring your attention to the elephant in the room. You touched on it but it still manages to remain hidden in cultural fog. So much so that switched on people like you miss much of the damage and what is dreadfully wrong with this church. Can I quote you here?
“Roman Catholic Church really needs to stop pretending that it is the great moral arbiter of all that goes on in the world”
This would be fabulous if it did happen. But then we wouldnt have a catholic church. It would be essentially erradicated.
This is what i would say in allignment with your thinking.
Our culture and our governents must stop pretending that the Catholic Church is somehow connected to God and a true moral guide to the world. There is a separation of powers, so they say, but it is not true when you look close.
Our society allows this creature to s**t in our nest constantly.
There are thousands of horror stories on the net about child abuse and the laundries and the visciousness of many aspects of this Church history. Yes there are the cover ups and the political Authoritarian rule. But we all know about this outrageous evil and it is us who don’t act.
The elephant in the room is the lives that are being ruined right now as i write this. Right under the noses of the families and friends, catholic lives are being compromised and it disappears into culturally acceptable behaviours.
Like the young man who got into drugs because he could not afford to go to university. They could not afford it because his mother gave the necessary funds to a catholic family who have a statue of Mary that cries each day in San francisco. The young man committed suicide in the the third year of the same repeated mistake. His mother still proudly displays the thimble of tears that cost thousands of dollars, sitting right next to a high school graduation picture of her son.
The pressure of this dillusional error of judgement, makes this family shout even louder about this fake statue and they take friends there often, who queue up to witness this rubbish. They feel the pressure to self deny even more strongly with the guilt of their negligence knocking at the door.
There are men in this country who go around tricking old people into paying huge sums of money to have their roof fixed and repaired when there is nothing wrong. These men find their way into Gaol. We look on in disgust and agreement. But if we suggest that this family with the statue be investigated, it just doesnt happen.
I have a horror story of my own. The church caused the problem, they still have methods of sustaining it’s momentum and there is nothing i can do about it. It is all about the bending of the law. If a doctor, a realestate agent, a lawyer, a policeman or a school teacher (public) carried out the same deception, they would be charged with an offence.
I have a solution to the problem. It is the same solution that we must apply to the drug problem (grass). Lets legalise it. Lets legalise the use of grass and apply some measures and controls around the function of an industry that will emerge as legitimate. This control measure is called…Taxation.
The Grass would have packaging and quality standards. It would not be sold to under aged people.
In summary, you said this:
“Roman Catholic Church really needs to stop pretending that it is the great moral arbiter of all that goes on in the world”
But this is not a homless busker in the market singing gospel with his hat on the ground. This is a dillusional, archaic and narcissistic centre of the world for much of this planet. The tragic thing about this is that we are the enablers.
You have a financial crisis all over the globe. Sounds like a good time to tax this mob
Karliss- this crumpled old man personally presided over a vast criminal conspiracy to aid and abet child molestation. He belongs in jail.
Karliss, let him be? I have no simpathy whatsoever for this criminal. I deeply hope no one lets him be, I hope he’s tormented until the day he dies.
Simpathy, its a new spelling for sympathy. I should get an award.
I thought it was a computer game where you simulate sympathy.
Oooo, good one Boo.
Are you sure he’s not the Sith apprentice? Palpatine needs a successor (or is that suck-cessor?). If he comes out with a Darth name, we’ll know for sure.
Search for my essay: “Sexual Politics in the Priesthood”.
Did and I enjoyed it. Gonna pass it on.
Im sorry, But im not getting the George Clooney comparisons, I just keep thinking Christopher Plummer.
I’d say he looks like an older Daniel Craig
Eew, I am picturing ex-pope Benedickt nude. What a nightmare. Monsignor Georg, hmmm…yum. Wayne you are way more yummier!!!
Ok kids, you want proof? My friend dated the dear Monsignor, and the Pope for the first time in the Papacy, has had his personal quarters linked to the Monsignors apartment. There is a HUGE cover up of Priests who are gay. Not only in the local churches, but all the way up to the Vatican.
Hey Steve, before you unload on Wayne, maybe it is YOU who should get your facts straight. There is hardly a day that goes by that some new aspect of this Priest Scandal doesn’t come to light. The Church is frantically doing all it can to silence these “tidbits of information” that are being exposed. Interestingly enough the Church is not as concerned about the child scandal as they are about the infidelity of their Priests. They fear that more as they feel that the faithful will have a more negative reaction when that is fully exposed. The Cardinals now in Rome meeting to elect a new Pope are having very secret meetings to discuss this and try to keep a lid even more info being put into the world wide press. What’s sickening is the Faithful’s blindly following of even the more vile of offenders. Los Angeles Cardinal Roger Mahoney is a guilty as they come. He’s had porn stars on his arm coming home from local LA gay clubs late at night. Steve, your telling Wayne that he’s going to hell is comical. It’s your Pope, and many of his Cardinals and Bishops who are taking the express route to HELL. I cannot imagine God being any too kind to them upon arrival for Final Judgement. Just as many of man’s most sacred idols come crashing down, so will your Catholic Church. It is more corrupt than any other Government or Church….having had the money and power to cover it’s tracks…until now. I truly feel sorry for you sir…..your faith is about to be tested in ways you cannot even imagine.
No such thing as heaven or hell or limbo, all made up by old fart elders in caves and huts to control their women and money. Religion must be left behind if the world is ever to become truly civilized and advanced.
Surely the reason a person becomes aminister in the Roman Catholic Church is that they are gay and so don’t mind not having sex with women. If they keep the gay sex amonst themselves and are not child molesters who cares what they get up to
Tony, one ought to care. Hypocrisy, even from liars, is damaging to all,as all lies are. An if you believe in God, it very much makes a difference.
All I’m saying, Wayne, is that you can bet whatever you want on your speculations personally, but doesn’t journalistic integrity demand more than a hunch? If there’s a story this big to break, then break it with evidence and corroborate it with other reputable sources.
I appreciate the work your organization does, but I also want to see public activists like yourselves put out material that does more than rally the troops. I’d like to see you approach the issues with unassailable integrity so that when you weigh in with facts and stories to support equality even your opponents are forced to respect you, and I see that as a way to crack through the shell of the opposition.
Wild speculation, however close to the mark you believe it to be, has the opposite effect.
Anyone else think that this story needs to be removed. It’s a rumor with no facts, as much as I don’t care for the pope, and I am angry with my catholic faith, I don’t believe that a web site about truth and exposing what we believe to be dangerous practices to change ones sexuality, and gies evidence of it, should go about putting rumors on there page. If at any point it is proven true, I say post it everywhere, and anywhere, but to spread a rumor, even though the pope has hurt most of us, isn’t the sign of a good christian. I get it we are all angry. But lets keep it to truth
[...] to play politics in the secular world, they can expect push back and fair criticism (and even the occasional rumor). Each time they disparage my sexual orientation, dehumanize my existence, or dismiss my same-sex [...]
Its disgusting to see someone with so much hate like yourself.
i don’t have a problem thinking these guys are both gay, and in love. what I don’t believe is that they are acting on it. pope been-a-dickt is many things I despise: authoritarian, reactionary, anti-liberation theology, anti-vatican 2, controlling. but he is NOT a hypocrite. at least, from what I know from the pro-vatican 2 people in the know (progressive catholics) they call him a lot of names but hypocrite is not one of them.
This man is not the ex-pope’s lover.
I am the ex-pope’s lover.
While it is rumored by some like Andrew Sullivan that Ratzinger is homosexual and that there is an attraction between him and Ganswein, I don’t know of any reputable Catholic pundits who believe the two men are actually having a sexual relationship.
It is a bit more plausible (though by no means certain) that they are mutually attracted but deeply closeted and celibate.
he was promoted from monsignor to archbishop just weeks before Benedict announced his resignation.
Weird.
Undeserved.
