Outsports reports:
Fallon Fox never wanted to talk about being transsexual. The professional Mixed Martial Arts fighter who’s been tearing through opponents has been a
woman to her training partners and opponents for the last five years. Now, due to circumstances beyond her control, she’s being forced out of the closet well before she was ready.
“For years I’ve known at some point it’s very likely the shoe would drop,” Fox told Outsports in a phone interview Tuesday. “Maybe someone would guess that I’m trans. Maybe they would know me from my life before I transitioned. I’ve been waiting for that phone call to happen. And Saturday night, it happened.”
Fox was at dinner celebrating a victory when a call came through. It was from a reporter who asked probing questions that clearly lead to one conclusion: The reporter knew Fox’s secret past. Within 48 hours she got a call from a former trainer who had been interviewed by the same reporter with the same questions. The secret of Fallon Fox was about to come out.
“These past six years, people have seen me as a woman, not a transsexual,” she said. “People in the gym, people I train with, it’s been great, it’s been awesome. I’m just a woman to them. I don’t want that to go away. It’s unfortunate that it has to.”
Truth Wins Out wishes Fox the very best and hopes that her coming our has a limited impact on the trajectory of her promising career. Fox has worked very hard and deserves to be treated like a champion. And, finally, this was a very well-written story by Cyd Zeigler at OutSports, and I encourage people to read the entire report.

Hubba hubba.
Okay, just so we’re clear on this, the doctor stretches out a male penis and with a scapel, SLITS IT DOWN THE LENGTH like a raw dick hot dog. After which, he scoops out the nutsack with a razor sharp ice cream scooper! THEN, he shoves the mutilated penis inside the vacant hole to forge a fake resemblance to a vagina!!
And all this is supposed to be “normal” and I’m supposed to embrace it just because I’m gay? I DON’T THINK SO!
Merrell, I’m confused as to why you are so upset over this. If you are not interested in having this operation no one is going to force you to do it–but why do you care if others do? It has no impact on your life whatsoever. Why do you need to worry so much about what other people do? And if you were transexual the surgery wouldn’t sound so bad–and all surgery is invasive so it’s kind of silly to go on about it.
if you were born without a dick, you’d want a fricking dick as soon as possible, same as a woman who was born with a dick and doesn’t want it
Merrell- nobody said you had to embrace anything. But if you’re going to go there;
Just so we’re clear, a guy takes out his penis, shoves it INSIDE ANOTHER MAN’S RECTUM, where THE POOP COMES OUT, discharges his seminal fluid into the rectum to forge a fake resemblance to the act of lovemaking, and I’m supposed to embrace it just because it’s not actually any of my business what two consenting adults get up to? I DON’T THINK SO!*
*To be clear, I do think so (but don’t tell Merrell).
No one’s forcing you to do it Merrell and its none of your business if someone else chooses to.
And didn’t you say you were leaving here never to come back and you had already completely forgotten about us?
And thanks, Boo.
Good for her.
I think it’s amusing when people use the grossness of surgery as a “reason” certain procedures should be opposed, singled out, or banned. It happens with trans* issues; it also happens with abortion. But without delving into either of those topics, the bottom line is that any surgery categorized as invasive – such as life saving surgeries like a coronary bypass, or appendectomy – is “gross.” And all imagery of shiny operating rooms and new surgical masks aside, when a doctor is performing the procedure, despite all the best advancements in tools and measurements, it all comes down to cutting into your flesh and bones and sewing you back up.
Modern procedures of course involve meticulous measures for eliminating causes for secondary infection, and better technology means even invasive surgery becomes less and less invasive, and all procedures become remarkably more efficient. One example is the various techniques developed over time to eliminate kidney stones (I’ll leave you to google that.)
But I think it will be a while before razor-sharp scalpels and absorbent sponges are completely done away with. So yes, surgery involves gross acts. Intervention on the human body often does.
Thanks to all of you who have stood up for us transexuals.
It’d be interesting to know why its so important to Merrell to stop others from doing as they wish with their bodies when it doesn’t affect him at all. He’s no different than the anti-gays thinking they’re justified in telling men they shouldn’t have sex together.
Thank you. My gf (pre-op transwoman, going on 3 years on hormones) sometimes needs reminders that there are other strong women out there like her, especially when she’s been getting crap from her family and people who knew her as a guy. Being able to point her to Ms. Fox has brightened her day. A lot.
