Have you noticed that Exodus’ Alan Chambers looks much happier now that he doesn’t have to lie each day and pretend his failed program actually works? Alan actually looks kind of fun to hang out with these days.

Although the video seemed to lack all of the customary humping that goes along with many of the Harlem shake videos hah ha.
He does seem a little more light-hearted as time goes by.
Well as an exgay going through the same soul-searching as Alan and a lot of other long-term exgays I can say that losing the 24/7 anxiety that goes with maintaining an exgay belief system is liberating.
Truther, losing the “ex-gay” system is liberating. The whole “ex-gay” thing is so confining I’m sure any release feels good, no matter how temporary. Just be who you are–gay.
Dear Truther, please take a minute to look at my link
http://www.gaychristian101.com/withdrawing-from-ministry-in-the-catholic-church.html
It tells of my 26 year journey out of the ex-gay world into reality and true love of a partner and G-d.
I will pray for you!
Something big is going break in the ex gay world!
Daniel + Darren thank-you. Darren your story is much like my own-I to became Catholic and spoke with Father Harvey. I am a fan of New Directions in Canada and almost moved there but was too afraid of the cold.
Truther, Just want to let you know that you don’t have to immediately “come out as gay and join the ‘gay lifestyle’” – just be who you are, and maybe this means taking some time living “asexually” – that is, just getting to know who you are as a person. Yes humans are sexual beings, yes you possibly are gay (I know nothing about you, but if you’re ‘ex-gay’, you’re probably on the spectrum somewhere) – but as anyone knows, being out as gay doesn’t mean you have to immediately go out and party at clubs and start having sex with any attractive guy you see.
Just take some time to step back a bit, figure yourself out a little bit. If you want to be around other gays, I recommend finding some kind of lgbt club based around one of your interests – music, sports, religion… Too many ex-ex-gays have dove “head-first into the gay lifestyle” and then gone back to being “ex-gay.”
That’s my 2¢, anyway…
Truther, Don’t be afraid of the cold. I work as a welfare worker in Ottawa where a assist people settle in Canada from other countries. Because this is a French speaking area, I work alot with people arriving from French speaking countries in Afica like the Congo, Morroco and Ivory Coast. it takes tham a little while to adjust, but they thrive here. And Priya Lynn is right to say that some areas don’t get that cold at all. But whatever you decide, you will bring you where ever you go so you have to feel good within your skin. Just be true to yourself and trust your own intelligence and conscience–G-d gave you those to help guide you in life. Other people tell you how to live for their own reasons, not because they care about you. Listen to your heart. When you hear G-d’s voice their welcoming you home, no-one can steal that away from you.
Truther, some parts of Canada are a great deal milder than others. It gets bitterly cold on the prairies but as you get towards the west coast and southern Ontario winters are much milder.
Yes, Alan is much more light-hearted these days, and that’s very refreshing to see!
Unfortunately, years of repressing his true self and peddling the ex-gay nonsense have clearly taken their toll on his physical appearance, cause Boyfriend looks A LOT older than 41….
