This week, Wayne wrote about the growing rift in the Cheney family that started when Liz Cheney decided that her political aspirations are more important than her sister Mary’s family. This week, in e-mails to Politico, Mary continued to speak out for herself:
Mary wrote, “I’m not supporting Liz’s candidacy.” She later clarified: “By supporting, I mean not working, not contributing, and not voting for (I’m registered in Virginia not Wyoming).” The best she could say of the sister who was once her close friend and confidante was a final postscript: “I am not saying I hope she loses to Enzi.”
Cold, and appropriate. Some people’s siblings are worthy of support, others aren’t.
