This secret society called "The Family" seems scary to me if they can go to Uganda and convince their government that this is the right thing to do. If they can do that there, what is to say that they won't do that here in America? Sure, we like to say that it would never happen here, but that would be a sense of false security. Germany, during WW2, had NO idea what Hitler was doing until it was too late. When asked why the citizens took no action they replied "we had no idea that it was going on in our back yard." The GLBT community needs to get its head out of the sand and start investigating this so called "Family" so that we know the enemy and what it is capable of doing here in the US. WE cannot claim ignorance here.

Your comment that 'Homosexuals Anonymous was, well, anonymous' was probably an attempt to humorously say they were unknown. But they don't really qualify as an anonymous program. There are many 12 step programs, and they usually adopt the AA model with slight changes. For example, CA changes the first step to "Admitted we were powerless over Cocaine, that our lives had become unmanageable." HA has 14 steps that are profoundly different from those of AA.

But it is the traditions that are most different. While AA members practice anonymity at the level of press radio, TV, films, and the internet, HA does not. While AA disavows ties with other organizations, HA is aligned with many other organizations including PFOX, Courage, NARTH and the Conservative Political Action Conference. HA is an avowedly Christian organization while AA has no religious requirement other than a power greater than oneself. AA is a program for alcoholics by alcoholics, HA seems to be run by professionals who make a living from treating homosexuality as a disease to be cured.

So it would be more accurate to say the Homosexuals Anonymous is not anonymous.
