Continuing its insane strategy of harassing corporations, the hate group Parents and Friends of Ex-Gays (PFOX) is urging PepsiCo shareholders to vote in favor of Shareholder Proposal No. 4 — the Charitable Contributions Report. While PFOX claims to represent ex-gays, they have virtually none in the organization, strongly suggesting they are a political and legal front group.
The nutty PFOX resolution demands that PepsiCo to explain its standards for donations. PFOX is upset because it claims PepsiCo is contributing to Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG). This is a group that helps families accept loved ones who happen to be gay.
“Why does PepsiCo fund organizations like PFLAG which issue religious publications urging readers to undermine other religions with which PFLAG disagrees?” asked Regina Griggs, executive director of PFOX. “Is this the best use of PepsiCo funding?”
“In response to a similar proposal last year, PepsiCo claimed that it is “committed to diversity and inclusion without imposition of personal judgment.’ So why does PepsiCo continue to fund organizations which hate the ex-gay community?”
“The PepsiCo Shareholder Proposal No. 4 asks PepsiCo to divulge its standards for funding and account for how the Company’ charitable contributions are actually used, a reasonable request,” said Griggs. “PepsiCo’ actions adversely affect its public image, goodwill, and stock value.”
PFOX is once again playing victim and angry (aren’t they always?) that PFLAG refers to so-called “ex-gay” conferences as “anti-gay”. Well, maybe because they portray gay relationships as sinful, counterfeit and as sexual brokenness. Any reasonable person would conclude that such depictions of an entire group of people are, indeed, anti-gay.
Once again, PFOX is coming across as unglued and divorced from reality by pursuing a bizarre strategy of portraying so-called “ex-gays” as hapless victims. In reality, PFOX is an aggressively dishonest organization that singles out LGBT people for ridicule and persecution.
PFOX was founded in the late 1990′s by Anthony Falzarano, with political and financial backing from the Family Research Council. He was replaced by Richard Cohen (pictured with tennis racket), the discredited therapist who was expelled for life from the American Counseling Association. The group also has close ties to Arthur Abba Goldberg – the founder of JONAH and a former Wall Street con artist who served hard time for bilking investors.

Having Richard Cohen in ANY school is a bad idea, period. Just to watch that stupid beating the pillow with the tennis racket, you know there is something badly wrong with this man. No, no, keep this guy away from kids–of any age!
It’s always insightful to see how closely aligned “ex-gay” groups are with radical, anti-gay pressure groups. Take the AFA, for example. They have been harassing Pepsi for some time now with a boycott, because Pepsi supports equality for all Americans. This boycott is not working very well, so other groups try to help it along. Instead of admitting that they are just a large, anti-gay advocacy group in disguise, “PFOX” is trying to gin up the boycott against Pepsi using reasoning which defies common sense. One cannot change gay people into heterosexuals (or “cure” them of homosexuality) while simultaneously running away from that premise and creating an entirely new sexual orientation category of “ex-gays.”

These stupid boycotts from the gay bashers never work anyway. The ultimate was when they threatened to boycott Disney World, probably one of the gayest and gay-friendliest places in the country. Mickey just gave them the finger and went merrily (gayly) on his way.
I have belonged to PFLAG for YEARS. This is a scandal free, ALL INCLUSIVE family supportive organization that has no religious affiliation, nor favors religious activity AT ALL.
There are materials for the religious that address faith based INTEGRATION and coexistence for religious families and their gay members.
But there is no favoritism that says one religion is better or more desirable than another.
Just as it’s taught the same regarding sexual orientation. That homosexuality isn’t a BAD, UNDESIRABLE or dangerous thing, any more than heterosexuality is. And that punitive religious action or expectations that such actions will change the gay person is ill advised and can put a gay person more at risk.
That’s all.
If PFOX is aware of PFLAG’S outreach and results, then they are lying and misrepresenting (no surprise there) it.
PFLAG encourages unconditional education and supports family cohesion without all the unnecessary and often disastrous expectations that a gay person should, can and must change orientation.
PFOX however, is LOADED with the most contradictory, incomprehensible and unworkable CONDITIONAL standards for GAY PEOPLE only.
Obviously, PFOX wants these conditions expanded to an extreme scope that invades the workplace, schools and other public accommodation and the private corporate sector.
Everywhere BUT the standards within places of worship (which can have the option to discriminate).
They don’t want their influence to be limited by who comes to their places of worship and personal association. Forgetting all the while that other religious communities have to adhere to the same standards.
This isn’t about the freedom to have a difference of opinion, but forcing bad, inaccurate and damaging information on the unwilling.
And when that force does manifest in lost careers, intimidation and violence, then there is mischaracterizing PFLAG. This is altogether insufferable and a whole other level of unethical behavior.
