Exodus activist Tom Cole has long been fond of publicity and never shied away from a television camera. I most remember him for his cowardice.
In 1998, 15 religious right organizations embarked on a million dollar advertising campaign to say that people could “pray away the gay”. In several conversations, Cole claimed that he disagreed with the over-politicized message of these anti-gay groups. He said he wanted to speak out against their hatred, but in the end, he never found the moral courage to do so.
Sadly, Cole reached a new low this week. He exploited his teenage daughter, Elisabeth, and had her film a video promoting the “ex-gay” myth. She seems like a sweet kid — though thoroughly misinformed on the issue of homosexuality. Like any child, Elisabeth has limited experience in the real world and is trying to please her parents.
But what kind of father uses his teenage daughter to do his dirty work? Instead of protecting his child, Cole is using her to promote his anti-gay agenda. This kind of reminds me of the parents who force their children to hold up pictures of bloody fetuses in front of abortion clinics. (although not quite as bad)
Exodus talks a good game on family values, but seem to have no problem with such naked exploitation. I can almost hear Tom Cole saying:
“Hey, our ‘ex-gays’ aren’t convincing anyone, let’s trot out our cute kids and cynically use them as props to gain publicity.”
What next? An “ex-gay” Balloon Boy to garner media? This is absolutely pathetic and an example of poor parenting.

I knew it was just a matter of time until Wayne and
TWO started thier attack on this girl and her video.
Wayne accuses her father of using her to make this
video. What proof do you have of that, Wayne?
It sounds as if she made this video by her own choice.
No wayne, the truth is that you can’t handle the fact
that there are youth out there ( and there are many)
that are not going along with the gay activist
propaganda and are willing to make a stand. God bless

well that she and her video would be attacked by gay

Most youth, even Evangelical youth, don’t buy into anti-gay propaganda, because they know better.

Are you seriously suggesting that Elisabeth produced this video against the wishes of her parents and it mysteriously ended up on Exodus’ blog without the permission of her closeted gay father and lesbian mother?

Brad, you and Exodus are the ones attacking this girl and using her as a political pawn to further your insidious agenda. It is not Truth Wins Out that elected to exploit her. It was your good buddies at Exodus.
It is pathetic that Mr. Cole allowed his young daughter to be used in this way. And shame on you for applauding and abetting such poor parenting.

Brad the truth is that its extremely unfortunate that youth like this have been brainwashed into taking a hateful and harmful position on people who are hurting no one.
I have no doubt that my being gay is part of God’s plan for me. If these folks are trying to tell me otherwise, then all I can say is “Get thee behind me Satan,” as you are interfering with God’s plan. Shameful!
Typical b******t. They’ll exploit their children to peddle nonsense. Then when people react, they whine about the children being ‘attacked’. If you don’t want your children being in the limelight and subjects of scrutiny, don’t put them out there to regurgitate your crap. You can’t simultaneously claim they’re strong and mature enough to be speaking their own minds (“She’s not indoctrinated!!!”) yet scream that they need special protection from any criticism of what they’ve said and done because they’re children.

This was so contrived – I’ve watched 100′s of youtube videos blogs – this one top of the list for being scripted, rehearsed, edited, polished to within an inch of its life.
