I went to exodus international years ago and found it was a bunch of brainwashing bunk. I spent a lot of my own money to get there and I didn’t last there a week.
I came back home and learned later on-I am actually ok-it’s others who tried to determine for me what is right and wrong. And I have learned to no longer allow that.
Good for you, Kerry. What a lot of people now in Exodus are probably not aware of is that the two founders of Exodus fell in love whilst running Exodus, figured out the whole “ex-gay” nonsense was a pile of s**t, left, and were together until one of the gentlemen died. That’s something that doesn’t get said often at Exodus–if ever–I’m sure.
Love the story. My partner and I also have a Maltese dog. We have been together for 15 years and are very happy. We have a Vermont civil union which will soon be legal in Illinois where we live. I hope we can celebrate that union with our families present. In Vermont it was just the two of us and the village clerk. Keep telling your story, and glad that you were able to have family support on both sides.

John, what apple did was no different than disallowing an anti-black or anti-semitic app by the KKK. There aren’t two valid sides to this issue, ours is the only correct one – gayness is harmless and attempts by bigots like you to oppress gays are immoral. Our side fights for your equal rights, wants you to have an unfettered life and has no desire to oppress you. We just reject what is (should be) a very small part of your christianity – the desire to oppress innocent harmless people. Churches like the Lutherans, Presbyterians, Episcopalians, United Church of Christ, have show this with great love and scholarship and acceptance of us, as we are, as God made us. One last point Rev. It really needs to be pointed out strongly. Being in favor of the rights of gay people and our families, to ordain us if God calls us to serve, and to support our families having the same rights as other families, is NOT anti-Christian.
Bishop Robinson of the Episcopal Church is, obviously, a Christian. So are millions of other gay people, clergy and laity.
And, there is hope, even for the COGIC. I know a few people in it who, VERY quietly, admit they struggle with this issue. 40 years ago, you would have said the same thing about a LOT of churches. God moves in great ways Rev. And at Gods own sweet pace and time.
