Religion is a farce perpetrated on the people for power and wealth of the church. The last christian died on a cross 2010 years ago.

I defintely believe in the power of prayer even though so often I experience the world as a place where God seems inactive.

as a liberal, educated mainliner and as a pentecostalish mystic….i would like to see the “rational” and mainline church more active in prayer. I know I need it.

I would not presume to speak for God, nor discern her will. I’m just a mere mortal – a mammal – and don’t pretend to have such magical powers, gifts or abilities.

Perhaps, I’ll get such answers when I die one day…. Perhaps, not.

But, attempting to project or interpret God’s will, I’m afraid, would only, in reality, be the expression of my own wishes and selfish desires – while attributing or assigning them to God.

In my view, that would be disrespectful. I’ll do the human thing and let God be God, if there is, indeed a Higher Power. Again, I’m a person and do the best I can with my limited abilities to understand the complications and contradictions of this crazy universe.

Wayne, I just came across a new book (Oct 2009) that is quite relevant to the ‘kill the gays’ situation in Uganda. It was written by Daniel Goldhagen who wrote the bestseller Hitler’s Willing Executioners from a number of years ago.
