The Washington Blade reported today that conservative author Ann Coulter told HLN’s Joy Behar last night that she thinks in some cases “ex-gay” therapy works. Coulter’s controversial comments came when she brought up that one of her fans “found God,” and “now he’s not gay anymore.” Coulter went on to explain:
“There are some people… maybe they weren’t really gay to begin with, maybe they were molested as children. There are people that go that way.”
Clearly, Coulter is a loudmouth headline-seeking opportunist, exploiting this issue to advance her career. She lacks about as much evidence as she does integrity, so we don’t take anything she says seriously. Unfortunately, some of her dim-witted followers may believe what she says to be true, and that’s why she’s dangerous. After all. riling up rubes is her business model and she’s pretty good at it.
Coulter also told Behar that she thought the military should be comprised of only heterosexual males.
“I not only not want open gays in the military, I don’t want open girls in the military.”
Her comments brought a swift rebuke by the Log Cabin Republicans.
“Ann Coulter is not a serious part of the conservative movement – her positions are a throwback and do more harm than anything else,” R. Clarke Cooper, Executive Director of Log Cabin Republicans told the Blade.
If only Cooper’s comments were true. Sadly, she does speak for a great many conservatives who buy her idiotic books and hang on her every word.

She is also a creationist. This shouldn’t surprise anyone.

Will someone please quit hitting the snooze button on this woman’s 15 minutes of fame???? I really wish the media would stop giving her all this attention. Ms. Coulter is a know-nothing egomaniac. Her books and articles are poorly researched and never peer-reviewed. She dismisses anyone who disagrees with her and ignores any research or findings that contradicts her preconceived worldview. Although she may sound like she knows what she is talking about, in reality she does not. I have no respect for this woman and neither should any respectable media outlet.

And yet, GOProud worships her. They call her “the conservative Judy Garland”.

Christ, that thing is STILL moving about? Maybe if we smear the garlic on the wooden stake.

This is exactly why I urge my friends never to watch daytime television.

“The conservative Judy Garland?” She doesn’t sing, or dance . . . maybe it’s her addiction to diet pills?

Reed, what can I tell you? Gay Republicans must be easily entertained.
I’m shocked this segment could go on without some kind of warning that children should leave the room.

… and let us not forget her blithe little comment about wishing DADT for all of society because she’s so tired of hearing us push for equality…
what a disagreeable woman.

I’m not really sure why her comments are “controversial”, isn’t that pretty much what all social conservatives think? I think it would more apt if her comments were labeled ignorant.

Does it seem like she just keeps popping up every few months? Like Rasputin? Does anyone even care what she says anymore? I’m just irritated that Behar has her on to spew her idiocy. I don’t think even conservatives take her seriously at this point.

I’ve recently been re-reading Dante’s Divine Comedy. In the Great Poet’s version of Hell, LIARs like her were sent to the Malebolge and thrown into a lake of burning pitch, or human excrement, made to wear leaden cloaks which represented their hypocracy, or spent eternity by consumtive diseases such as rashes, welts, dropsy, leprosy and tuberculosis.
Seems to me a perfecly reasonable response to this grotesque Gorgon’s deliberate lies and willful ignorance.

I’m surprised also that Behar had her on, (did she challenger her?), Joy B has always been a great friend to the gay community.
Q: how do you know when ann coulter is lying?
A: her mouth is moving.

GOProud is having a hissy fit because the Conservative Political Action Conference (CAPC) has banned it from attending their conference in 2012. Don’t you just love it? Poor GOProud clamoring for acceptance but now rejected by its fellow arch conservatives who oppose marriage equality. What is ironic is GOProud’s Chris Barron married his boyfriend in DC but doesn’t include same-sex marriage in its agenda. Barron, I might add, opposed repeal of DADT back in February 2011.
