The Politico and the mainstream media has launched an unconscionable, racially stereotypical attack on an independent, self-reliant conservative black because for him that behavior is not allowed. Now, if we had…
I want to look at a couple things today from a different perspective. What would the left be doing right now if, let’s say, there were an assault on Obama of this nature. Let’s say that some conservative publication ran a story exactly like this: Unnamed sources, 15 years ago, with every detail of Obama sexual harassment. What would the Democrat national committee and what would the media be doing? They would be going after the women. They would be targeting these women, and they would name names, and they would destroy them. That is what the Democrats and the media would do. They would set out to find out who these women are that talked to the conservative publication and they would destroy them.
They would call these women racists for trying to destroy a black politician. They would claim that they’re working for the Republican National Committee. They would claim that these two women (or these women, whoever), had been hired by the Republican National Committee to engage in this smear and lie campaign against Obama. They would go after these women. They would destroy them. They would make the women the bad guys. They would dig into every minor thing in these women’s lives that they have ever done. They would trash them, they would make them prove the unprovable — because this is war, and that’s how they fight it. Anything goes, as far as they’re concerned, and they cannot allow a black or an Hispanic to rise to the top of a political establishment that is not Democrat.
Water still wet.
Angry Black Lady over at Balloon Juice points us to what the Misogynistic Racist Anti-Gay movement [they use the term "pro-family"] has just pulled in Arizona:
Gov. Jan Brewer on Tuesday signed into law House Bill 2443, which makes it a felony for a doctor to perform an abortion based on the sex or race of the fetus.
Opponents of the measure have questioned whether such a practice was really occurring.
Haha, Republicans confronting a problem that actually exists? Riiiight.
Republican supporters had said that statistics show a high percentage of abortions are being sought by minority women and that abortion clinics intentionally locate in minority areas.
They said statistics show that some populations are increasingly seeking abortions based on the fetus’ sex.
Democrats argue that statistics show that neither is happening.
Rep. Steve Montenegro, R-Litchfield Park, said he pushed the legislation because of fears women would choose to abort because they didn’t like the gender or the race of the baby.
Rep. Katie Hobbs, D-Phoenix, said the only proof Montenegro offered was a magazine article on such practices in China and India.
Okay, now you know how asinine this story really is. It’s very simple. Just as Maggie Gallagher only talks about black people when black churches are riling people up to vote against gay people, these wingnuts only “defend” black people [term applied very loosely] when it serves their patriarchal goals. I could say more about this, but I don’t need to, because Angry Black Lady’s rant on the subject is one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen on the internetz:
First of all, how dare these Teabilly assholes pretend to care about the plight of the Negro, when the very same Teabillies are gutting and intend to further gut the social programs on which black and brown women rely in order to keep their babymakers in check? I mean, Jesus F. Bieber—how can they defund Planned Parenthood on the one hand but then deem the abortion rate in the black community to have reached such critical levels that it should be called genocide? How can they not see that these issues are directly related?! What the hell is wrong with them?! (That’s a rhetorical question.)
Second of all, how in THEE hell are they going to get inside an abortion doctor’s head to determine whether or not s/he would have been less inclined to perform the procedure had the fetus been of a different race? Are there scads of “Black Baby B’Gone” clinics from which this law is intended to protect black ladies?
Looky here: You’re not fooling anyone, assholes. It is plain that you are using this “black genocide” angle to push your anti-abortion agenda. How stupid do you think we are?
Furthermore, how stupid are you? If your little plan works, and brown women have fewer abortions, we’re just going to outbreed you! Yeah, let that little nugget of OMG! sink in for a while. You need to decide which you hate more: Brown people or dead babies.
I swear, I’m going to go have a half dozen babies tomorrow – out of spite.
“Black Baby B’Gone” = genius.
I’ve often pointed out that wingnuts are never wingnuts about just one thing, but that they tend to have insane beliefs about several things at a time. I’m upping that, in light of The Way Republicans Are These Days. Wingnuts are just insane all the way around. All of ‘em. And they’ll believe absolutely anything their Daddies tell ‘em, ‘cuz they’re dumb like that.
Tintin at Sadly, No! found something. It’s a new (?) wingnut named Bill Flax, who is making the same old boring argument again, in an old boring way, but it’s particularly illustrative of just how little regard anti-gay men have for the women in their lives, or in anyone’s lives. It is called “Bill Flax,” and it says this:
Gay marriage appears inevitable. It is the next step in the dance of dissonance across America.
The first step was performed by Phillip Glass.
A flip through the clouds as modernity divorces itself from traditional culture. Is nothing still sacred?
They asked the same thing when blacks got to own property, you know.
Homosexuality has been politicized to an extent never seen before in America. What was once barely visible has become front page news and the object of incessant glorification.
Oh, it was visible, at rest stops, as Godly Christian Men stopped to go to the bathroom, even when they weren’t on business trips.
The entertainment industry inundates us with charming portraits of benign homosexuality.
I find them to be more benign portraits of charming homosexuality, but to each his own.
From the closet, homosexuality emerged into the open; from the open, it ascended to acceptability; from acceptability to equality, and from equality exalted onto a pedestal.
Wait, when the hell did we reach equality? I mean, obviously pedestal comes next, after equality, and then after that we replace wheelchair symbols on front parking spaces with pink triangles, but damn, did I miss something?
The gay lobby and their cheerleader on Pennsylvania Ave. scored a victory on “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell.”
Yeah, I didn’t think we had equality yet. We still only have one cheerleader, and she’s been taking a break for half the past two years.
Amidst all the fuss over gay marriage, everyone misses the obvious.
Gays have every bit as much right to get married as you or I. And in fact, they should.
Yay, here comes the misogynistic bastard part!
A homosexual man has an identical right to take a woman in holy matrimony as may any other man. Likewise, the rest of us have just as little right to take some guy and pronounce him a bride. This isn’t a question of differing rights. Our rights remain in perfect symmetry. Homosexuals are now and always have been permitted to marry.
AND SCREW THE WIFE’S NEEDS. It’s not like a woman deserves to be married to a man who actually wants her sexually. I mean, she’s just a “helpmeet” and all. It’s nice when wingnuts are honest about how little they value women as humans.
However, because marriage doesn’t appeal, gays demand the law be changed to accommodate their particular longings. The gay lobby craves that the very definition of marriage should be radically changed. Homosexuals seek to alter a millennia old institution into something it has never been. All done to assuage the internal bitterness of those whose proclivities steer outside the ordinary.
Wow, one millenia (which has included lots of polygamy and chattel marriage, etc.) against several hundred thousand of years of human history. It’s cute that he thinks we’re bitter though. It must help him with his self esteem problems.
Will the Left take a final bow at legalized gay marriage? The band will keep playing. Another dance will surely follow on its heels. As society pirouettes around traditional morality, we welcome any manner of behavior. What else awaits its turn around the floor?
I dunno, dude, but your gay ballroom dance references are starting to give me the heebie jeebies. For the last time, dude, none of us like you that way.
It doesn’t matter how many moral lines are breached, the homosexual activists will keep agitating because it’s not persecution they resist, but internal loathing projected outward.
Yeah, there’s projection involved, but I don’t think it’s the kind he psychologically needs to believe.
The difference is not in our rights, but in our character. The homosexual man remains indistinguishable other than his behavior. All of us are born depraved. We are a fallen species prone to various temptations and homosexuality is one of the most difficult. This is not to make light or heap additional burden on those poor souls who suffer the anguish and uncertainty of attraction to members of the same sex.
Happily for most, our carnal natures point in the direction of members of the opposite sex. Lust, like greed, envy, pride, gluttony, sloth or anger, befalls everyone in some combination and some flavor. However, simply because we suffer these burdens doesn’t legitimize the failings that occur when temptations manifest as actions. We don’t commend lust to anyone of any sexuality.
“Happily, most of us sin like REAL MEN and not like sissy fag boys.” Anyway, blah blah blah, moronic pablum he can’t prove about “original sin” and depravity and other simple-minded tripe, can we please get back to the misogynistic bastard stuff?
Rather than seek to undermine such a foundational institution necessary for healthy society, homosexuals ought to get married. Marriage would temper their urges and channel their desires into something beneficial for both them and society at large.
Marriage is not only already a legal endeavor for gays, it’s productive. It is high time homosexuals get married and that must be matrimony’s last dance.
And a big Up Yours to all the women whose lives are wasted trying to please men who will NEVER WANT THEM, under any circumstances! They’re only women, after all, isn’t that right, Bill Flax?
Thanks for dancing, ya fairy.
Behold, the limited mental worldview of The Constitutional Originalist. Joe Jervis:
Speaking on Friday at the University of Richmond, Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia denounced the concept of a “living Constitution” and said the 14th Amendment was not written with the intent of granting equal protection to ALL Americans. Just the heterosexual ones.
“The due process clause has been distorted so it’s no longer a guarantee of process but a guarantee of liberty,” Scalia expounded. “But some of the liberties the Supreme Court has found to be protected by that word – liberty – nobody thought constituted a liberty when the 14th Amendment was adopted. Homosexual sodomy? It was criminal in all the states. Abortion? It was criminal in all the states.” “The way to change the Constitution is through amendments approved by the people, not by judges altering the meaning of its words,” he added.
Joe points out that Scalia also believes women’s rights fall under the same category. Basically, he’s a misogynistic, homophobic pig. Excuse me, YOUR HONOR is a misogynistic, homophobic pig.
I’ve found in monitoring radical anti-gay Christian extremists that they’re usually not normal, rational people who happen to dislike gay people. Usually, they’re detached from reality on several fronts. Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli is apparently no exception. Cuccinelli, you’ll remember, decided to use his status as AG to direct Virginia’s colleges and universities to remove sexual orientation from their non-discrimination policies. Unfortunately for him, Virginia happens to be home to Smart Kid Schools, and smart kids and Christian fundamentalist windsockery go together like oil and water, and his efforts have been rebuffed so far.
He’s also embarrassing himself with his efforts to defund Planned Parenthood, which is the only primary healthcare source for many women.
But also? Cuccinelli seems to be a a hardcore birther, having been caught on tape having the following conversation:
Q What can we do about Obama and the birth certificate thing?
Cooch: It will get tested in my view when someone… when he signs a law, and someone is convicted of violating it and one of their defenses will be it is not a law because someone qualified to be President didn’t sign it.
Q: Is that something you can do as Attorney General? Can you do that or something?
Cooch: Well only if there is a conflict where we are suing the federal government for a law they’ve passed. So it’ possible.
Q: Because we are talking about the possibility that he was not born in America.
Cooch: Right. But at the same time under Rule 11, Federal Rule 11, we gotta have proof of it.
Q: How can we get proof?
Cooch: Well… that’ a good question. Not one I’ve thought a lot about because it hasn’t been part of my campaign. Someone is going to have to come forward with nailed down testimony that he was born in place B, wherever that is. You know, the speculation is Kenya. And that doesn’t seem beyond the realm of possibility.
Right Wing Watch has the video if you want to hear the Cooch for yourself.
This of course also reveals that Cuccinelli probably has race issues, since the birf certifkit thing has been so thoroughly debunked that only backwards knuckle dragging white people with inferiority complexes in the face of black men who are smarter than them still cling to the birther fantasies, the way they cling to guns and religion. (Hee hee.)
Okay, so let’s count. So far, Cuccinelli has
1. Major inferiority and fear issues where gays are concerned.
2. Major inferiority and fear issues where women are concerned.
3. Major inferiority and fear issues where Barack Obamas are concerned, going so far as to cling to fantasies that he is ineligible for the office of the presidency.
4. Probable Fear of a Black Planet.
Isn’t that enough? Isn’t that enough wingnut fear, enough wingnut neurosis, enough mental illness for one far right wingnut official?
In an overlooked recording from the campaign trail, candidate Cuccinelli told a crowd that he was considering not registering his son for a Social Security number because “it is being used to track you.” He also claimed that many others are not registering for Social Security numbers for the same reason.
Direct quote:
We’re gonna have our 7th child on Monday, if he’s not born before. And, for the very concerns you state, we’re actually considering — as I’m sure many of you here didn’t get a Social Security number when you were born, they do it now — we’re considering not doing that. And a lot of people are considering that now, because it is being used to track you.
Video:
Good lord!
Apparently, like Victoria Jackson, Ken Cuccinelli would be a lot safer if he wore a helmet. I’m worried he might hurt himself otherwise.
Anyway, here’s some music, just because it’s still one of the best responses to people like Ken Cuccinelli I’ve ever heard, and also because if Ken stumbles across this post, it might make him pee:
UPDATE: Another quick link for thee: Steve M. at No More Mister Nice Blog makes a solid case that Cuccinelli is not only a Birther, but also a Tenther (another fringe whackjob movement) and a liar (self-explanatory).
