ABC’s Brian Ross did a terrific job with this Nightline segment, as well as an earlier piece on ABC World News.

Truth Wins Out is pleased that our efforts uncovered the incontrovertible evidence that Bachmann & Associates practices “ex-gay” therapy. It is now time for Michele Bachmann to stop waffling and weaving and finally admit that she and her husband own a clinic that tries to “cure” LGBT people.

What are they so ashamed of and why are they running from their reprehensible record? We thought the Bachmann’s were proud of their extremism, but apparently they are masking their genuine beliefs in an effort to appeal to mainstream voters.

Finally, check out TWO on ABC’s Good Morning America and the Today Show — which will begin in a few hours.

I suppose we’ll see whether ABC commits an act of journalism tonight when they profile the laughably weird Journey into Manhood camps, which were notably exposed a while back when journalist Ted Cox went in undercover as an attendee and, as a straight man, experienced what it’s like when a camp counselor  jams his boner into your back.  As it usually goes with these mainstream media reports, sometimes they’re good, and sometimes they’re awful, beholden as the corporate media is to presenting “both sides” of issues, even when there aren’t two valid “opposing sides.” Here’s ABC’s intro:

When Preston met up with a bunch of his friends in New Caney, Texas, for a guys’ weekend at a secluded camp, it wasn’t for hunting or fishing. These men traveled here to attend emotional counseling sessions to cope with unwanted sexual attraction towards other men.

“To be able to connect from one man to another, with no facade, with no you know nothing holding back, it’s just amazing,” said Preston, a 28-year-old from outside of Salt Lake City, Utah. He requested only his first name be used.

The retreat called “Journey to Manhood” offers therapeutic peer counseling over 48 hours to help men like Preston, who voluntarily come to learn how to deal with what they call “same-sex attractions.” For the first time ever, the retreat allowed cameras inside their controversial organization and ABC News was granted exclusive access.

Nightline airs at 11:35/10:35 PM Central.

Fearing a renewed uproar over tonight’s ABC News investigation of Exodus International’s role in Uganda’s kill-the-gays legislation, Exodus President Alan Chambers has informally told conservative Christian pundit Warren Throckmorton:

I am disappointed that Exodus won’t be heard in this piece. Sadly, Don Schmierer declined the interview and our request to go on record with ABC was denied. I would have loved nothing better than to share our disdain for this bill and apologize for going anywhere near such a horrible conference.

It is neither sad nor surprising that Schmierer and the rest of the Exodus board declined to talk: Schmierer had already discredited himself, on Exodus’ own blog.

In December 2009, in an Exodus blog guest article, Schmierer admitted that, since 2002, he had been working closely with antigay evangelicals in Uganda to mobilize antigay political activity.

And yet, Schmierer claims that, over the course of seven years, he was somehow oblivious to evangelical colleagues’ internationally publicized lynch mobs which were killing gay Ugandans and destroying the reputations of rival pastors with false character attacks.

Such a ridiculous claim of ignorance would be torn to shreds by ABC and exposed as a lie — which it is. Hence, Schmierer’s refusal to talk, and Chambers’ failure to follow through with his offer to express disdain or apologize, regardless of whether ABC is listening. (Read More)

Wayne mentioned yesterday that the Janet Jenkins/Lisa Miller saga would be featured on Nightline last night, and now we have that video. Kyle at Right Wing Watch notes that the Liberty Counsel is still conspicuously silent on the case of their erstwhile star client.

Instead we get known windsock Peter Sprigg, speaking as a representative for PFOX.

Lisa Miller and Isabella have been officially missing since January 1, but neighbors say they haven’t been seen since September of last year.
