Occasionally, we have shared Molotov Mitchell videos. He’s the self-aggrandizing thug, wannabe who tries to steal Penn & Teller’s act – but adds a sick, right wing twist. Today, Terry Krepel fought back and took a look at who this “conservative” clown truly is.
The profile of Mitchell isn’t pretty and paints a portrait of an angry, dishonest fanatic who should be monitored by the FBI and possibly arrested for sedition. His unpatriotic, violent remarks are on the border where free speech meets an actual threat against the U.S. government:
Mitchell then engages in his usual denigrating of people he doesn’t agree with: “A handful of pencil-necked, metrosexual socialists in Washington can’t possibly defeat a nation of red-blooded, God-fearing patriots.” He then endorsed a military coup against Obama:
The spirit of Thomas Jefferson is alive and well in Honduras — especially in Honduras, where their Marxist just tried to tamper with their constitution, and guess what happened? The Honduran military took that socialist dictator wannabe to the border and said, “Hasta la vista, baby. Better luck in Costa Rica.” Sounds nice, doesn’t it? Sounds nice to me. Time will tell.
Molotov Mitchell has a real problem with America’s democracy, it seems.
Terry Krepel of Media Matters has a good article at the Huffington Post. It shows that while World Net Daily’s founder Joseph Farah was in a war of words with Ann Coulter over her speaking at a gay event, WND turned up the anti-gay hate on its commentary page:
An Aug. 16 column by Nancy Pearcey asserting that homosexuality is a “denigration of physical anatomy”.
An Aug. 17 column by Farah attacking Glenn Beck for not opposing gay marriage, which somehow demonstrates that he “shares a materialistic worldview with Marx, Engels and Saul Alinsky.”
An Aug. 17 column by Kupelian, who like Farah argued that if you don’t hate gays, you’re not a real conservative.
An Aug. 17 column by Les Kinsolving embracing the fallacious reasoning that homosexuality equals pedophilia equals bestiality equals necrophilia.
An Aug. 18 column by Ken Hutcherson — the officiant at Rush Limbaugh’s latest wedding — declaring that homosexuality “inarguably kills its participants,” adding, “Oh, by the way, God wants His rainbow back!”
An Aug. 19 column by Kupelian claiming that the agenda of GOProud “sounds an awful lot like a mainline homosexual-rights organization pretending to be ‘traditional conservative’ and fooling Republicans.
An Aug. 19 column by Farah once again criticizing conservatives for not being as anti-gay as he is. This is the same one in which he complains about being labeled a conservative.
An Aug. 20 column by Alan Keyes declaring that “Beck’s display of contempt for the ‘gay marriage’ issue is clear evidence that he has no respect for the political authority of God.”
An Aug. 21 column by the American Family Association’s Bryan Fischer, who wrote that Coulter and Beck “have forfeited the right to consider themselves any longer culture warriors” because they don’t hate gays as much as he does.
An Aug. 21 column by Sharon Kass lamenting “the refusal of even fellow conservatives to make effective use of ex-gay information.” Kass engages in a substantial bit of armchair psychology of homosexuality and its cure: “Concerning the nature, causes, prevention and healing of homosexuality and transgenderism, the basic facts are these: These conditions indicate deep-seated gender self-alienation. This is generally caused by faulty bonding and identification with the same-sex parent figure, starting at age 2 or before. Homosexual feelings are the mind’s automatic attempt to heal the same-sex emotional breach. Transgender feelings result from automatic identification with an opposite-sex figure filling the emotional vacuum left by the same-sex figure. Healing is achieved psychodynamically, by getting in touch with buried feelings of shame, anxiety, depression and rage; releasing those feelings deeply; forming healthy, platonic same-sex bonds; and learning to appreciate one’s natural gender without caricaturing it.”
Many of you know Kass as that sick, terribly wounded, obsessed fundamentalist who has probably written you a nasty letter if you have ever written anything remotely pro-gay.
They didn’t dump her as a columnist, because World Net Daily editor Joseph Farah thinks his website is ideologically diverse, and he wants to keep it that way, but they’ve kicked her of the roster as a speaker at THEIR wingnut party:
Conservative superstar Ann Coulter today was dropped as a keynote speaker for WND’s “Taking America Back National Conference” next month because of her plan to address an event titled “HOMOCON” sponsored by the homosexual Republican group GOProud that promotes same-sex marriage and military service for open homosexuals.
Joseph Farah, editor and chief executive officer of WND, said the decision was a gut-wrenching one for his team because of their fondness for Coulter as both a person and writer-speaker.
“Ultimately, as a matter of principle, it would not make sense for us to have Ann speak to a conference about ‘taking America back’ when she clearly does not recognize that the ideals to be espoused there simply do not include the radical and very ‘unconservative’ agenda represented by GOProud,” said Farah. “The drift of the conservative movement to a brand of materialistic libertarianism is one of the main reasons we planned this conference from the beginning.”
Asked by Farah why she was speaking to GOProud, Coulter said: “They hired me to give a speech, so I’m giving a speech. I do it all the time.”
Farah then asked: “Do you not understand you are legitimizing a group that is fighting for same-sex marriage and open homosexuality in the military – not to mention the idea that sodomy is just an alternate lifestyle?”
Coulter responded: “That’s silly, I speak to a lot of groups and do not endorse them. I speak at Harvard and I certainly don’t endorse their views. I’ve spoken to Democratic groups and liberal Republican groups that loooove abortion. The main thing I do is speak on college campuses, which is about the equivalent of speaking at an al-Qaida conference. I’m sure I agree with GOProud more than I do with at least half of my college audiences. But in any event, giving a speech is not an endorsement of every position held by the people I’m speaking to. I was going to speak for you guys, I think you’re nuts on the birther thing (though I like you otherwise!).”
Funny things about this:
A. It’s always funny when wingnuts fight.
B. Ann Coulter declined to endorse GOProud, which continues GOProud’s long tradition of getting all a-flutter over people who haven’t even given any indication that they even like them, aside from a completed cash transaction.
C. Ann Coulter doesn’t endorse “Harvard” or “college campuses,” either. What she’s opposed to is information and learning, you see.
Also: I figured Joseph Farah would be going to Homocon?
…
No?
We’re going to need more popcorn, because this isn’t over.
The recent move away from social issues — particularly homosexuality — has enraged and frightened social conservatives, who feel they are being forced to the fringe. World Net Daily columnist David Kupelian articulates this fear and scolds the Tea Party for focusing on economic issues:
In the end, there are only two choices: Either we acknowledge as a society, with love and tolerance, that there is something wrong with homosexuality – as we affirmed for centuries, from the Pilgrims’ time until just recently – or we go into terminal denial and tell each other homosexuality is perfectly normal and healthy. If we go that way, we are denying the core moral lessons not just of Christianity and Judaism, but of common sense, experience, medicine and history.
Once we rip the lid off Pandora’s Box, we can’t control what flies out. No tea party rally, no mid-term election, can put it back in the box. Therefore, my conservative friends, while you’re fretting over the bad economy, and the unguarded border and the inmates running the asylum in Washington, think on these things also, and ask yourself:
If preserving America’s moral values isn’t worth fighting for, what is?
Here is a fascinating, if not bizarre, linkage between allowing marriage equality and legalizing polygamous marriages for hordes of American Muslims. It’s pretty slick how Kupelian rolled up all of these fears — including indoctrinating children into one neat little package:
The answer is: You better care, because once gay marriage is legalized in America – something for which there is virtually no precedent in the 5,000 years of Western Civilization – your schools will be required to teach your children that homosexuality is totally normal, your pastors and rabbis will fear preaching their faith’s core moral values, and gender confusion and immorality will reign supreme in America.
Moreover, polygamy will inevitably be legalized also, since there simply will no longer be any legal basis for keeping polygamy illegal. For Muslims living in the U.S., for whom polygamy is allowed under the Quran (up to four wives), we will see large
numbers of polygamous marriages within the United States of America, just as there are in France today – where polygamy is still illegal!
Kupelian attributes the change of heart of some conservatives to fear of the big bad gays:
There are many other examples, even among top conservatives. It seems most, if not all, are falling away from this jugular issue for the same reason: They’re afraid, and the convenient slide from conservatism to libertarianism – invisible when the issue at hand is government spending, taxation and regulation – comes into full view when dealing with moral issues like homosexuality.
Why are they afraid? The gay activist movement relies heavily on intimidation (or “jamming,” as their marketers label it) and no one likes to be mocked, marginalized, demonized, called ugly names, boycotted, persecuted, prosecuted for “hate crimes” (thought crimes, actually), fined or imprisoned.
Of course, there is another explanation. Perhaps, some conservatives just grew up, got educated on this issue, met some actual gay couples and came to the logical conclusion that LGBT people are not a threat to their marriages or civilization. Having come to that rational view, they increasingly see hysterical and dogmatic people like Kupelian as behind the times and stuck in the past.
Interesting – they have breakout sessions for dreaded “community organizers”. Didn’t Sarah Palin make fun of community organizers during her VP nomination acceptance speech?
A new generation of Christian and conservative leaders will assemble for a key conference called The Awakening 2010 at Liberty University next week with the aim of taking their campaign far beyond the special documentaries created by D. James Kennedy, the campus outreach of Bill Bright and the church organization built by Jerry Falwell.
Mathew Staver, chairman of Liberty Counsel and event organizer, told WND that unless those who care about the traditional God-fearing United States start working now, it will go away.
“If we don’t stand for our core values, we’re going to lose them,” he said. “We’ll have an America we don’t recognize.”
Staver said this isn’t just a warning about the impact on the next generation or their children.
“This will be a different America … in our lifetimes,” he said. “Much has changed since the [2008] election, and we still have two and a half more years of this administration which is bent on reshaping America.”
He said Washington’s vision for the nation now is far afield from that of the Founding Fathers.
He cited a quotation from Benjamin Franklin at the signing of the Declaration of Independence: “We must all hang together, or assuredly we shall all hang separately.”
The conference brings together some of the top leaders of a long list of groups that have supported Christian and traditional values.
Opponents of LGBT equality make a big show of claiming they have no choice but to discriminate because of so-called biblical absolutes. However, religious fundamentalists have consistently abandoned their bedrock beliefs when they have become unpopular or unsustainable.
The most recent example is the Christian Science Church. This religion holds the backwards view that adherents should avoid medical care at all costs. They believe that sickness is the manifestation of a conflict between “correct” and “incorrect” thinking. (Newsflash: Science has discovered bacteria and viruses)
As a result of this barbaric practice, The New York Times reports that more than 50 church members or practitioners have been charged for causing unnecessary deaths due to denial of real medical care. This is particularly problematic when children are the victims.
Of course, dead children is bad PR. The medical issue has caused the church to lose half its membership since its peek of 200,000 at the turn of the century. Faced with the possibility of the church collapsing, the Christian Scientists have suddenly reversed course and said that medical care in fine and dandy, in many cases.
This is not the first time that religious absolutes have changed overnight. The late Rev. Jerry Falwell was in favor of segregation – until his view threatened to relegate him to the fringes of society. Suddenly, God had changed his mind and racism was wrong.
The Mormon Church supported polygamy until 1904, when it was pressured by the US government to abandon the practice. The same church did not allow black priests until 1978, when the prophet had a divine revelation.
In reality, religious absolutes almost always change when a large majority of the public sees a particular rule as obsolete and harmful.
The moral of the story: The LGBT movement should focus on changing public opinion and not waste time on the fanatics. Once 75% of the public is opposed their bigotry, most of them will fall in line – if only to protect their reputations or institutional viability.*
* The exception may be Porno Pete and his hate group.
Michel Glatze, a former gay activist who became a so-called “ex-gay” after what appears to be a possible nervous breakdown, went on a racist rant against President Barack Obama this week, according to Ex-Gay Watch.
According to Ex-Gay Watch’s David Roberts, Glatze has started posting rambling and disjointed thoughts to his new blog. Some examples, including the attacks on the President:
“Have I mentioned lately how utterly ‘disgusting’ Obama is? And, yes, it’ because he’ black. God, help us all.”
“It’s a shame Obama is black. He could end up setting back race relations decades.”
“If Obama had a baby with Down’s Syndrome, he’d probably be frustrated that the child’ intelligence would never be enough to discern that his father is the Messiah. Knowing this, Obama would probably have his Down’ Syndrome baby killed, before it was ever born”
I think such posts are further evidence of what appears to be Glatze’s mental deterioration and decline. I hope he has sought professional help and guidance, as he slips further into incoherent and incendiary diatribes. He used to do good work, but now it is clear that he offers nothing but angry rambling and disjointed thoughts.
Sadly, the virulently anti-gay website World Net Daily is exploiting Glatze’s state of mind for crass political gain. And, Glatze, who just solicited me for an interview, (I turned him down) is a stage horse who is actively seeking publicity. While he claims to have found God, it is clear that his Savior is newsprint featuring his name.
I truly wish him well and hope he sees through this charade and rejoins the reality-based community in the future.
Earlier today, I wrote about Mychal Massie’s World Net Daily article where he erroneously claimed that I call blacks who oppose same sex marriage, “particularly appalling and ignorant.” Today, he offered a swift apology – which shows humility and class. I thank him for his effort to set the record straight.
Wayne, my most sincere apologies. I have your article “anything but straight: frank talk on race and prop 8″ in front of me w/ your first and third ppg highlighted…it is the copy I used in preparation of my piece…I say to you that this misquote came about by accident as I pulled from memory…I will have piece corrected straight away…I assure you that there is a bounty of positions for us to disagree on w/out my having to invent false quotes…I have never in my career falsified quotes…I am deeply sorry and personally embarrassed by my unintentional error…I will copy you as I go about having same corrected…if you would like I am perfectly willing to write an apology for you to post on your blog…I have been intentionally misquoted by others…I know the sting of same…and while I vehemently and unapologetic ally disagree w/ you…I would never stoop so low as to falsely malign you…whether I agree or not w/ your positions…you are on the frontline and I know what that is like…I may be strongly opinionated and for that I do not apologize…but I am not one who makes things up to support my argument…once again…plz accept my deepest apologies…let me know if I can write an apology to you on your blog or wherever…I will keep you in the loop as I go about correcting things…thk you for bringing this to my attention…
